  4. This is for removing excess baggage from ANT Mailbox files.
  5.  
  6. If you load a mailbox file into !Edit you will see that in front of every
  7. message is a great pile of headers with lots of meaningless information in. 
  8. This is particularly noticeable in the ant-chat mailing list where typically
  9. there are more headers that actual message text.
  10.  
  11. What this program does it remove the extraneous headers and create a new
  12. mailbox file.  In the case of my archive of the ant-chat list this made it
  13. nearly 50% smaller!

  15. This doesn't affect Marcel at all, and if you weren't in the habit of
  16. looking at the headers of e-mails you won't notice either.

  19. How to use the program
  20. ----------------------

  22. Firstly find your mail box files.  This will depend on exactly how you
  23. installed the ANT Suite but you should find them in a Mail directory.  They
  24. appear on the desktop as yellow icons with a picture of an envelope on them.
  25.  
  26. Run the !MBoxTidy program.  SHIFT-Drag the mailbox files from the Filer
  27. window into MBoxTidy's window.  You may need to press Enter after doing this
  28. if you are using !Zap rather than !Edit.

  30. This will tidy your mailbox.  Your old mailbox will be left intact, but
  31. renamed.  You can delete this once you are confident that the tidied mailbox
  32. has all of your old mail in.

  61. Doing that has saved 2.4 MBytes of disc space (once you have deleted 0ant
  62. that is)!

  68. MBoxTidy deletes all the headers found in the Headers file within !MBoxTidy. 
  69. You can add other headers to this, Organization and X-Organization might be
  70. good candidates.  Be careful though!

  99. To sum up - if MBoxTidy deletes your e-mail, wipes your hard disc and kills
  100. your pet gryphon then you are on your own.  Having said that it is unlikely
  101. to since it never deletes the original mailbox.
