  4. Read this file before you start playing with PipeDream. You can scroll 
  5. through the document by using the up and down arrow keys, the Page Up 
  6. and Page Down keys or clicking in the scroll bar on the right hand 
  7. side of the window.

  9. %C%%H2%Once PipeDream is loaded
  10.  
  11. PipeDream is loaded when the blue PipeDream icon is visible on the icon 
  12. bar at the bottom of your screen. To start a new window click the left 
  13. button of the mouse on the PipeDream icon.

  15. Pressing the middle, or Menu button, of the mouse whilst the blue 
  16. pointer arrow is over a PipeDream window will give you the top-level 
  17. PipeDream menu.

  19. Pressing the Menu button on the PipeDream icon gives you a further list 
  20. of options with which you may experiment.

  24. A short help file is available by pressing the F1 key. This will help 
  25. you to get started.

  27. %C%%H2%Once you have a new window
  28.  
  29. When you have a new window, you can start typing. To type text, as you 
  30. would in a letter, just type away. To enter a number into the 
  31. spreadsheet, press the F2 key, and type in your expression. When you 
  32. press RETURN, the result of the calculation will be displayed in the 
  33. slot.

  35. Use the left and right buttons on the mouse to position the caret in a 
  36. slot.

  40. PipeDream has three ways of accepting commands:

  55. When you start PipeDream, the short menus are switched on. This makes 
  56. the menus clearer and more readable. To access the complete range of 
  57. PipeDream commands, select long menus by clicking the left button of 
  58. the mouse on the "Short Menus" option in the "Files" menu.

  60. On the long menus, the function key equivalent of the commands is also 
  61. shown, if there is one.

  65. The demonstration version of PipeDream has the spelling checker, file 
  66. saving, printing and searching disabled.

  68. The LOTUS 123 to PipeDream converter program and the Z88 filing system 
  69. are not supplied on the demonstration disk.

  81. There are several example files in the "documents" directory on the 
  82. demonstration disk. You can load a PipeDream file into PipeDream by 
  83. double-clicking on the icon of the file. PipeDream files have the 
  84. PipeDream icon displayed by their side.

  86. Experiment with the example files: these will give you an idea of some 
  87. of the amazing documents you can create with PipeDream 3.

  91. When using the demonstration version of PipeDream, please remember that 
  92. you don't have the reference manual available. The reference manual 
  93. includes a full step-by-step tutorial and a large reference section. 
  94. There is obviously no space here to explain the finer features and 
  95. facilities in PipeDream - you will only get the full benefit by working 
  96. with the manual, but the demonstration should give you some idea of 
  97. PipeDream's impressive capabilities.

  141. Using the function keys. A function key card is supplied 
  142. with the real version of PipeDream.

  144. Using CTRL key sequences. Alongside the commands in the 
  145. menus you will a sequence of letters: you can give the 
  146. command without using the menu system by holding down the 
  147. CTRL key, and, whilst it is held down, pressing the letters 
  148. shown. Delete word, for example, is CTRL-T.
