Clicker
Clicker is a program which will find its way into many areas. Originally
designed for special needs, this program allows you to create and operate
grids - the contents of which can be operated with a mouse, or if you have
Switch Clicker, a click of a switch. (For example, disabled people might
have a switch on their wrist which will operate the grid.)
A grid might contain and assortment of computer instructions, words, phrases
or letters. When one is clicked with the mouse, the instruction is carried
out or the word or phrase will be printed into the currect text document. A
brilliant and logical extension of special character printing type programs
such as Chars.
Clicker is £35 for five machines and works only with the mouse. Switch
Clicker is £75 but has the additional feature of being capable of being
operated by a switch connected to, for example, the user port.
The file in this directory will only run with Clicker (either version). Load
it and open a text document. Try to get the numbers in order.
I'm sure it will prove to be a very useful tool for Key Stage 1 and 2, and
not just Special Needs. The fact that it can output sound samples means that
there may also be some possibilities for Key Stage 3 - Modern Languages?
