PostCalc the Book
About This
==========
This program is written for those individuals who have kitchen
scales and need to send packages which require more than one
stamp yet will fit through the hole in the pillar box.
It was really written to make my mail order business a little
more efficient. I use a digital kitchen scale and this program to
determine my postage. It will emulate these £350 postal scales you
find in Business supply places.
Customising Your Program:
=========================
As a matter of course I find I normally mail second class and
within England using grams, so by using a program !FormEd by
Simon Huntington or a secondary template editor, say you could
alter it to be first class. Just tick 'first' in the 'main' window and
save it back. You could also alter the standard weight. !Post
Calc will read the data as the program runs.
Beeping Nuisance
================
Since the release of this program I have found that items which are
greater than 1300g mailed within the UK are more often better
sent by courier. Mainly, it may be cheaper and you get a singature
back. The beep is telling you to investigate. My copy comes up and
says, "This package is to go by courier (I use 'Business Post') and
it will cost you £3.20"
My Logic
========
There are two little confusing bits and these are the "Stamps" and
"Remaining" bit. This means that if you have an item which
costs 39p to mail you must apply 2 x 18p worth of stamps and
3p to make the required 39p. While this may be obvious to
some, I had a number of complaints during the beta test stage.
The Zone 1 and Zone 2 is a bit confusing. Basically, zone 1 and
zone 2 is for every country not in Europe. The closer countries
to England are zone 1. Far away countries like New Zealand are
zone 2.
The zoning is as follows:

Tested
======
I have tested this program on A3000, A310, A400, and an
A5000 with great success and no pitfalls. It has also been tested
with Econet and in varying screen modes.
Upgrading
=========
Lastly, if you have any problems, write to me, and I will help
you sort them out. If the rates change or you want an upgrade of
this program, send a formatted disc and a self-addressed
stamped envelope and I will happily send it to anyone no charge.
