MIR'ly joking.....
The following comments have been overheard whilst G3IOR/M was travelling
around the UK on lecture schedules.
1. A local QSO, interuppted by U2MIR's packet transmissions, were debating
the ".. funny noise on the frequency ..". After concluding that it was due
to overhead power lines, I interjected and explained what and who it was.
The reply was " .. You must think we were born yesterday, mate. Do you
think we are so thick as believe that radio amateurs are in space making
alien noises like that! ...". Well, I tried.
2. A better one came from G7***, who, following the discussion on the
problems that Musa was experiencing due to being in range of virtually
all of Europe and some thousand or more packet stations simultaneously
calling, had a great idea. "Why doesn't he stop, work just those stations
in range, and then move on a few miles and get the next lot? Altenatively,
he could come down to about a mile up, and so have far less QRM!".
One can see the effects of the education cuts!
