  1. Introducing the Smiley family

  4. Hi all,

  6. Having seen a few general responses to hatemail etc., I thought I would pass
  7. on extracts from a message which arrived in my in-tray on my machine at the
  8. office. The symbols can be used in all sorts of ways, as you will see. With
  9. these to hand you can take the sting out of your nasty comments !!
  10.  
  11. Basic SMILEY symbols.
  12.  
  13. :-)  This is used to inflect a sarcastic or joking statement, since we
  14.      can't hear voice inflection over the network !!
  15. ;-)  Winky smiley. User just made a flirtatious and/or sarcastic remark.
  16.      More of a "don't hit me for what I just said" smiley.
  17. :-(  Frowning smiley. User did not like that last statement or is upset
  18.      or depressed about something.
  19. :-   Indifferent smiley.
  20.      (Create on a PC by holding ALT and using number keypad type 179, then
  21.      release ALT)
  22. :->  User just made a really biting sarcastic remark. Worse than a :-)
  23. >:-> User made a really devilish remark.
  24. >;-> Winky and devil combined. User just made a LEWD devilish remark.

  37. :-{} User wears lipstick.
  38. {:-) User wears a toupee.
  39. }:-) Toupee in an updraft.
  40. +-:-) User is the Pope or holds some other religious office.
  41. [:-) User is wearing a Walkman.
  42. <:-  User is a dunce.
  43. :-)X User wears a bow tie.
  44. And the one I like !!
