  5. Description:    The AFsp package is a library of routines for reading and
  6.                 writing audio files. The emphasis is on providing support
  7.                 for the type of audio file used by the speech processing
  8.                 research community.  The routines have been designed to be
  9.                 easy to use, yet provide transparent support the reading of
  10.                 several audio file formats.  A secondary purpose for
  11.                 distributing these routines is to encourage the use of a
  12.                 standard audio file format for the header information in
  13.                 the output files.

  16.                 The following file formats are supported for reading.
  17.                  - Headerless audio files
  18.                  - Sun audio files
  19.                  - RIFF WAVE files
  20.                  - AIFF/AIFF-C audio files
  21.                  - NIST SPHERE audio files
  22.                  - IRCAM soundfiles
  23.                  - INRS-Telecom audio files
  24.                  - ESPS sampled data feature files
  25.                  - Text audio files (NATO/ESPRIT CD-ROM format)
  26.                 The following file formats are supported for writing.
  27.                  - Headerless audio files
  28.                  - AFsp (Sun) audio files
  29.                  - RIFF WAVE files
  30.                  - AIFF-C audio files
