  23. │ Troubleshooting:                                                   │ │

  25. │ Make sure all files from the original BATS.ZIP are in the          │ │
  26. │ same directory, and that you start the game from that directory.   │ │
  27. │                                                                    │ │
  28. │ If you run the game from floppy or a very slow hard disk, you may  │ │
  29. │ notice a slow-down in the music and animation between rounds. This │ │
  30. │ is normal.                                                         │ │
  31. │                                                                    │ │
  32. │ To run the game under Windows (not recommended), run it in a       │ │
  33. │ full-screen, exclusive window. You may also have to turn off       │ │
  34. │ DIGITAL FX under the SOUND menu.                                   │ │
  35. │                                                                    │ │
  36. │ Some machines cannot run BATS properly with QEMM in memory. We     │ │
  37. │ believe that this problem has been eliminated in 2.51, however,    │ │
  38. │ if you encounter problems first try booting without QEMM. If this  │ │
  39. │ fixes things for you, please drop us a note or leave voice-mail.   │ │
  40. │                                                                    │ │
  41. │ If you have problems and you are running Stacker, try running Bats │ │
  42. │ from a non-stacker drive.                                          │ │
  43. │                                                                    │ │
  44. │ Your settings are saved in a file called BATS.SET. Keyboard        │ │
  45. │ settings are in BATS.KEY, and joystick settings are in BATS.JOY.   │ │
  46. │ You can erase these files to reset the game back to its default    │ │
  47. │ state.                                                             │ │
  48. │                                                                    │ │
  49. │ If you are tired of seeing the intro everytime you play, choose    │ │
  50. │ INTRO in the MORE... menu from inside the game, and it will change │ │
  51. │ to INTRO:OFF.                                                      │ │

  53. │ If you are having trouble using the keyboard, try using the other  │ │
  54. │ set of arrow keys (most AT-type keyboards have two sets).          │ │
  55. │                                                                    │ │
  56. │ If the game is too difficult: It always seems that way at first-   │ │
  57. │ keep playing and you will improve! Remember to move up and down    │ │
  58. │ to avoid bats that come from the sides.                            │ │
