SonicSound LX Drivers, Ev0.5.....11/29/93
BEFORE YOU INSTALL THE SonicSound LX DRIVERS:
------------------------------------------
i. INSTALLING SonicSound LX WITH WINDOWS only.
To install SonicSound LX in Windows without Windows Sound System do the following.
1- Follow the installation instructions in the SonicSound LX Users Manual.
2- Answer YES to:
DO YOU WANT TO INSTALL THE SONICSOUND LX DRIVERS FOR WINDOWS? IF YOU HAVE
INSTALLED WINDOWS SOUND SYSTEM DRIVERS AND WANT TO KEEP THEM PLEASE
ANSWER NO.
3- Run Windows.

ii.INSTALLING WINDOWS SOUND SYSTEM v2.0 after YOU HAVE INSTALLED SONICSOUND LX.
To install Windows Sound System v2.0 after you have already installed the
SonicSound LX Drivers follow these directions.
1- Run Windows as you normally would.
2- Bring up the CONTROL PANEL and click on the DRIVERS icon.
3- Select MOZART AUDIO DEVICE DRIVERS and click on REMOVE.
4- Click on OK to remove the driver.
5- Do the same for MOZART FM SYNTHESIZER
6- Click on the RESTART WINDOWS button to restart Windows.
7- Select RUN in the PROGRAM MANAGER's FILE menu and run the SETUP program
for Windows Sound System v2.0.
8- Select the 'Microsoft Audio Hardware Compatible' drivers.
9- Select Automatic Hardware Configuration
10- Proceed with the installation of Windows Sound System and restart
Windows.
NOTE: When recording from a microphone the input volume control may have
to be adjusted using the AUDIO CONTROL utility in the Windows Sound
System Group.
The MIDI output function will not operate under Windows Sound System.

iii. INSTALLING SONICSOUND LX after WINDOWS SOUND SYSTEM v2.0 HAS BEEN INSTALLED.
The following procedure MUST be followed in order to properly install
SonicSound LX drivers under WSS 2.0.
1- Run MZTMODE WSS at DOS from this diskette. This places the SonicSound LX
hardware into Windows Sound System mode.
2- Run Windows and install Windows Sound System v2.0 (WSS).
3- Install WSS v2.0 with 'Microsoft Sound Compatible' drivers.
4- At this point you may run some sound applications to verify your
installation. However, you will not be able to run any MIDI-related
applications. (Install the SonicSound LX Drivers for this support.)
5- Exit Windows after the installing WSS.
6- Run INSTALL on the SonicSound LX installation diskette to install
the SonicSound LX Drivers.
7- During the installation of SonicSound LX Drivers answer NO to the question:
DO YOU WANT TO INSTALL THE SONICSOUND LX DRIVERS FOR WINDOWS? IF YOU HAVE
INSTALLED WINDOWS SOUND SYSTEM DRIVERS AND WANT TO KEEP THEM PLEASE
ANSWER NO.
8- Reboot your system following the SonicSound LX Driver Installation.
NOTE: Once you have installed the SonicSound LX Drivers you do not have to
do STEP 1.
NOTE: When recording from a microphone the input volume control may have
to be adjusted using the AUDIO CONTROL utility in the Windows Sound
System Group.
