Using the Orchid P9000 Windows Driver:
--------------------------------------
It is VERY IMPORTANT to remove any older versions of the P9000
driver that may be installed. See the instructions below.
1. Start Windows by typing WIN and press <ENTER>
2. Double click on the P9000 icon to bring up the driver menu.
Click on the "REMOVE" button. If you are prompted to restart
Windows to complete the process, do so. Once you see that
the old driver is gone, you can exit Windows.
3. There should be a directory on your hard disk called \P9000,
where the older drivers reside. Copy the new files from
P9WIN.EXE (listed above) into your old \P9000 directory.
4. Start Windows again.
5. From the Windows Program Manager menu bar, click on "File",
then choose "Run". When prompted for a command line, type:
C:\P9000\inst <ENTER>
Note: If your drive letter is different, or if you changed the
P9000 directory name, change the run command to match your drive
or subdirectory.
6. The Enter your Video Memory Size dialog box will pop up.
Click on the "TWO (2) Megabytes" option. Then press the "OK"
button. This question often confuses people. All P9000
boards have 2MB VRAM for use with the accelerator (like in
Windows), and 1MB DRAM for use when the accelerator is in-
active.
7. The Power 9000 Installation screen should now be displayed on
the screen. You must click on the INSTALL button first.
Then the other install menu options will be available.
8. From the P9000 Installation screen select the desired
Resolution, Font Size, Monitor Type, and Display Driver
options. If your specific monitor is not listed, choose the
GENERIC monitor option.
9. Select the desired palette option. The Power Palette uses a
proprietary high-speed color blending algorithm. We
recommend it, if you want the highest graphics performance.
However, you will want to select the Standard Palette if you
require exact color compatibility.
10. After all options have been set, click on the OK button.
Then restart Windows, so your changes can take effect.
