  2.           Pro Lite Miscelanious Icons

  7. At least some of last vacation is spent well. The
  8. result is this  archive of ProLite goodies. First
  9. of  all there  is the expected  amount  of icons. 
  10. Apart from  me a series of  drawer-icons and some 
  11. other stuff donated by David Rydh.
  12.   
  13. If  all the  icons look like  little squares  you 
  14. need to install the fabulous NewIcons patch which
  15. can be  found in aminet:util/wb or  on the  ProWb 
  16. support site.

  18. The  ProLite  basic set  (with  all the  standard 
  19. system  icons in the  same style can be  found in
  20. the  aminet:pix/icon subdirectory or in the ProWb 
  21. support site at:

  25. When  installing these icons  make sure you don't
  26. simply  copy the  icons over  the old  ones, this 
  27. will  result in loss of  essential Tooltypes. You
  28. should  use  the  copynewicon  utility  from  the 
  29. NewIcons archive.

  31. Apart  from the expected icons, this archive also
  32. contains:
  33.  
  34.  DefIcons:  With the release off NewIcons v4 some
  35.             new  filetypes are recognised by def-
  36.             icons. The ProLite  version of  these 
  37.             icons  are  included  and  should  be 
  38.             copied  over  the NI4  deficons  into
  39.             Envarc:sys after NewIcons v4 has been
  40.             installed. To do this a  small script 
  41.             is  available  in  the  envarc_update
  42.             drawer  this  will install  the icons
  43.             and let you  choose one of  the 4 ram
  44.             icons available.

  49.  Patterns:  Because the  ProLite  set  requires a  
  50.          light  backdrop  some  difficulty may
  51.          be  encountered   finding  the  right 
  52.          backdrop. This archive  includes some
  53.          of the backdrops used by me. Some are 
  54.          created  by myself  but  I have  also 
  55.          included some work from Darren Hebden.
  56.          These backdrops  and more  of Darrens
  57.          work  can  be found in the  BrainSoup 
  58.          archives on aminet. (in pix/backdrop)

  60.  Tinydocks: I'm a true fan of the tinymeter cdty.
  61.             The brushes I  use with this cdty are
  62.             are included in this archive.
  63.             
  64.  RemoveAA:  RemoveAA is a  utility that  tries to
  65.             remove  the anti-aliased  outline  of
  66.             prolite  icons.  This utility  can be 
  67.             used  on desktop  icons to make  them
  68.             look  better when  a dark backdrop is 
  69.             used. This handy  utility was created 
  70.             by David Rydth. 
  71.             Take note that the removal of icon-AA
  72.             is not reversibel, you  should either 
  73.             make a backup of the icon if you want
  74.             the AA back one day or just keep this 
  75.             archive handy for later AA-recovery.
  76.             Sometimes  the result of this tool is
  77.             not  very good, in that case you will
  78.             have to  remove the AA  by hand using 
  79.             a proper drawing proggie. 
  80.             RemoveAA  can be  operated from shell
  81.             or by its icon, options/tooltypes are
  82.             
  83.             Thin: Sets the thickness of the black
  84.                     outline to minimal.
  85.             Shadow: Turn the icon shadow to black
  86.                     instead of removing it.
  87.  
  88.             Setting  the  thin  option  off or on 
  89.             sometimes  helps when  the AA  is not
  90.             removed  properly  (thin is  prettier
  91.             IMHO, but not thin works more often.

  93.             Because  RemoveAA  is a new option it
  94.             will  not  work  as  nicely on  older
  95.             ProLite  icons. I will start updating
  96.             those  ASAP. Just keep  an eye on the
  97.             support site and on aminet..

  99.             The first  pen in the  palette is the
  100.             transparant pen, the last pen  is the
  101.             new shadow pen (gray 150) which turns
  102.             to black when RemoveAA is run.
