Pro Lite Miscelanious Icons
---------------------------
>>>>These icons need the NewIcons v3/4 patch<<<<<
At least some of last vacation is spent well. The
result is this archive of ProLite goodies. First
of all there is the expected amount of icons.
Apart from me a series of drawer-icons and some
other stuff donated by David Rydh.
If all the icons look like little squares you
need to install the fabulous NewIcons patch which
can be found in aminet:util/wb or on the ProWb
support site.
The ProLite basic set (with all the standard
system icons in the same style can be found in
the aminet:pix/icon subdirectory or in the ProWb
support site at:
http://www.stack.nl/~eric/prowb.html
When installing these icons make sure you don't
simply copy the icons over the old ones, this
will result in loss of essential Tooltypes. You
should use the copynewicon utility from the
NewIcons archive.
Apart from the expected icons, this archive also
contains:
DefIcons: With the release off NewIcons v4 some
new filetypes are recognised by def-
icons. The ProLite version of these
icons are included and should be
copied over the NI4 deficons into
Envarc:sys after NewIcons v4 has been
installed. To do this a small script
is available in the envarc_update
drawer this will install the icons
and let you choose one of the 4 ram
icons available.
(Eric, does this make me the first to
actually use ShowNI?)
Patterns: Because the ProLite set requires a
light backdrop some difficulty may
be encountered finding the right
backdrop. This archive includes some
of the backdrops used by me. Some are
created by myself but I have also
included some work from Darren Hebden.
These backdrops and more of Darrens
work can be found in the BrainSoup
archives on aminet. (in pix/backdrop)
Tinydocks: I'm a true fan of the tinymeter cdty.
The brushes I use with this cdty are
are included in this archive.
RemoveAA: RemoveAA is a utility that tries to
remove the anti-aliased outline of
prolite icons. This utility can be
used on desktop icons to make them
look better when a dark backdrop is
used. This handy utility was created
by David Rydth.
Take note that the removal of icon-AA
is not reversibel, you should either
make a backup of the icon if you want
the AA back one day or just keep this
archive handy for later AA-recovery.
Sometimes the result of this tool is
not very good, in that case you will
have to remove the AA by hand using
a proper drawing proggie.
RemoveAA can be operated from shell
or by its icon, options/tooltypes are
Thin: Sets the thickness of the black
outline to minimal.
Shadow: Turn the icon shadow to black
instead of removing it.
Setting the thin option off or on
sometimes helps when the AA is not
removed properly (thin is prettier
IMHO, but not thin works more often.
Because RemoveAA is a new option it
will not work as nicely on older
ProLite icons. I will start updating
those ASAP. Just keep an eye on the
support site and on aminet..
The first pen in the palette is the
transparant pen, the last pen is the
new shadow pen (gray 150) which turns
to black when RemoveAA is run.
I sure hope to have pleased some of you whining,
begging, emailing Amiga fans. Please keep up the
whining, greets,
Oh yeah, the gw2k box icon is dedicated to Saiful
of #amiga. :-)
