  21. In addition to becoming a legal {COMMO} owner, registration eliminates delay
  22. screens and enables the following *extra* features:

  26.         3)  Automatic entry to and exit from Doorway Mode.

  62. Run the batch file GUIDE.BAT (just type "guide" at the DOS prompt).  This will
  63. show you a little bit of the program and allow you to make preliminary changes
  64. to your Setup File, COMMO.SET. Later you can take a more detailed look at the
  65. Setup File for much greater customization of the program.
  66.  
  67. Please read the file COMMO.DOC.  {COMMO} is a little different from other
  68. terminal programs and the time will be well spent.  Pay special attention to
  69. the section "Quick Start Instructions" under "Getting Started" (if nothing
  70. else, please read this section!) and Appendix A "Setting Up Your Modem."

  103. 3. Changes in this release

  106. {COMMO} 6.0 features a bit of a new look, a number of user interface
  107. improvements and some powerful new macro features.
  108.  
  109. Some VERY important upgrade instructions for users of previous releases are in
  110. the file UPGRADE.DOC.

  112. Previous users of {COMMO} should also read the detailed list of changes in the
  113. file HISTORY.  This file also shows changes to several previous releases.

  116. 4. {COMMO} for visually impaired users
  117. --------------------------------------
  118.  
  119. {COMMO} is very speech friendly for blind and visually impaired users with
  120. speech synthesizer equipment.  The first time the program is used, place the
  121. switch "/b" on the command line.  This will temporarily enable the speech
  122. interface.  The text file COMMO.SET (the Setup File) contains an item to
  123. permanently enable this feature.  Search for "sfi=no" (it can be found in the
  124. "Video and Chat Mode" section).  Change it to "sfi=yes".  The entire item will
  125. then look like this:

  130. 5. HP 95LX, HP 100LX users

  133. There is NO shareware release of {COMMO} for the HP 95LX.  An enhanced,
  134. commercial version called fastCOMM! is available and may be ordered directly
  135. from ACE Technologies of San Jose, CA, by calling (800) 825-9977.

  137. fastCOMM! is System Manager compliant when used in conjunction with SWITCH!
  138. 2.0 (also available from ACE Technologies).  There are many additional new
  139. features and improvements, including much better compatibility with the 95LX
  140. screen size.  fastCOMM! 1.0 is otherwise comparable to {COMMO} 5.41.
  141.  
  142. HP 100LX users will benefit from fastCOMM!'s improved response at high speeds
  143. (9600+).  {COMMO} may also be used on the 100LX with excellent results.  Be
  144. sure that you do NOT load System Manager when running {COMMO} on the 100LX.

  147. 6. Printed Manual Now Available
  148. -------------------------------

  150. For users who desire a printed manual, a very attractive new manual is now
  151. available to those who register.  The printed manual is coil-bound and has a
  152. multi-font, easy to read format.  It is fully indexed and is a handy 7" by
  153. 8.5" size.

  159. 7. {COMMO} Utilities on Disk!

  162. When you register you may order a diskette with the current release of
  163. {COMMO}.  In addition, the latest versions of a number of {COMMO} macros and
  164. utilities will be included on the disk:

  166.   COMMOPNS      Shad Muegge's file selection utility.  {COMMO} Point-N-Shoot
  167.                 allows you to select files for uploading without typing
  168.                 filenames.  Integrates seamlessly with {COMMO}, comes with
  169.                 macro support.  Shareware.
  170.  
  171.   MOSTHOST      Enhanced version of Shad Muegge's host mode macro.  Lets you
  172.                 set up your own little BBS.  Added features include: messaging
  173.                 with word-wrap, bulletins, expert mode, hot menus, menus in
  174.                 separate files (for easy customizing, adding color, etc.),
  175.                 file descriptions for uploads, scheduled events, and more.
  176.                 Free.
  177.  
  178.   CMC           Don Garrett's {COMMO} Master Control macro.  Don wrote this
  179.                 for himself, but you can adapt it.  Automatically logs you
  180.                 onto your favorite BBS to do mail runs and other operations.

  183.   CS-MAC        Written by Chuck Seyboldt.  Mail fetchin' macros, Action
  184.                 Processor for upoads and downloads plus "The Rest" -- Chuck's
  185.                 personal and experimental macros.  Free.

  187.   COMMOCVT      Utility to convert telephone directories from other programs
  188.                 to {COMMO} format.  Converts from Telix, PCPlus, Procomm

  192. 8. New passkeys for registered users

  195. For various business reasons I have had to create a new passkey system for
  196. registered users.  Your old passkeys will NOT work on release 6.0 of {COMMO}.
  197.  
  198. Therefore I am asking that users in the USA request new passkeys by sending a
  199. self-adressed, STAMPED, business-size envelope (SASE).
  200.  
  201. Users outside the USA must send a self-addressed envelope plus $1.00 US (cash
  202. only, no local currency or coins) for postage and handling.
  203.  
  204. ALL users include the following information:
  205.  
  206.     (1) Your name and address as it appears in my records (if the address on
  207.         the return envelope is the same, it is not necessary to include it
  208.         separately).
  209.  
  210.     (2) Your {COMMO} serial number and old passkey.

  212. If you've lost your serial number and/or passkey, your request will be honored
  213. ONLY if the address on the SASE matches my current records.  If it doesn't
  214. match, the SASE will be returned with the message, "Insufficient information."
