  34. 'looks' on the box and have been extremely disappointed - and have
  35. therefore wasted their money and (more important) time.  Nobody in
  36. their right  mind would purchase a  car  without  test  driving it
  37. first,  or  for  that  matter...purchase  clothes  without  trying
  38. them  on, so how  can  software  vendors  expect users to  buy one
  39. of their products without first testing it?  They will send copies
  40. of their software to large corporations to test but seem to forget
  41. there are also other users in the market willing to purchase their
  42. product if it meets their needs.   This is where this checkout BBS
  43. comes in.   This program is for evaluation only,  if you like this
  44. product  then  go  to  your  local computer store and purchase it,
  45. otherwise PLEASE do not USE or in anyway DISTRIBUTE this  product!
  46. There are many advantages to purchasing this product including:
  47. 1) Technical Support: Software vendors set  up  technical  support
  48.                       lines  for  the  purpose  of  helping  their
  49.                       registered users get the  most  out  of  the
  50.                       product and help with any bug concerns, etc.
  51.                       It is to your advantage to be  able  to  use
  52.                       this (and the many features of the program).
  53. 2) Manuals:           Manuals are  a  very  important  part  of  a
  54.                       software package.  No book  or text file can
  55.                       replace the  original  manuals,  which  come
  56.                       with the product. This enables  the  user to
  57.                       get the most out of the package,  especially
  58.                       with the very complex programs of today.
  59. 3) Upgrades:          With  buying  the  original program, you are
  60.                       entitled  to  low priced or free upgrades to
  61.                       new versions, bug fixes, and 'enhancements'.
  62. 4) Legality:          Using a program  without owning a registered
  63.                       copy is illegal.
  64. 5) Control Of The     When  companies  who  create  good  products

  74. to make available products  for  your  testing.  Companies  recently
  75. have started to head in this  direction and you can now return  some
  76. products  to  the  company  if  you  are  not  completely  satisfied
  77. (Norton, and a few others), but this does not remedy  the  situation
  78. as the refund/credit takes a long time to get processed and is a BIG
  79. hassle!   We feel that under the current software industry standards 
  80. of doing business, that evaluating software releases prior to actual 
  81. purchase is still the best solution.
