NOTE FROM EDITOR: Greetings once again. Four issues and going strong. I'd
like to thank all of the people who have send packet
messages, netmail, and even stopped me on the local
repeater to give comments and constructive criticism
about Ham On Disk.
It's encouraging to see that people are willing to take 5 minutes
of thier time to drop me a line, some even going as far as to writing
a _LETTER_. Which in itself is something of a dying art.
I would like to personally thank John Magliacane, KD2BD. John
writes/publishes a small newsletter called "Space News" which you
have seen here before. Proudly boasting to be the "First newsletter
in space" we have come to an agreement where it will be featured
here on a regular basis. The final chapters of Larry Kenney's great
article "An Introduction To Packet Radio" are in this month's
issue, and I hope you all have enjoyed it. Larry's packet address
is at the end of the article, and he'd probably appreciate it if
you'd drop him a line. If you've found it beneficial, why not?
I can never say enough about how great HDN, or the Ham Distribution
Network is. Not only are these guys willing to give this publication
wide distribution, but it's free to all. All you have to do is pay
the long distance (where applicable) to get your software. In case
you didn't know, HDN is basically a group of many BBS' which are
involved/dedicated/centered around amateur radio. Between them, they
share files and ideas to help bring together Hams all over the
world. They're always as close as the telephone, and even your
nearest satellite! I'd just like to thank them for helping me out
in thier own way, please read over the information contained in
articles #7 and #8. You won't regret joining.
73 de Todd, VE3OZL.
