  10. Telix for Windows Announced:  Features, Pricing, Availability

  12. Cary, North Carolina, April 15, 1994 -- deltaComm Development, Inc.
  13. announced today that it will soon begin shipping its popular Telix
  14. Professional Communications software in a Microsoft Windows version.
  15. Telix for Windows version 1.0 will be released June 15th, 1994, after a
  16. short sixteen month development cycle and extensive quality assurance
  17. testing.

  19. "The new version is a ground-up rewrite of our long-time favorite DOS
  20. communications program," says Sean Palmer, the Senior Software Engineer
  21. at deltaComm.  "All of the most often requested features have been
  22. incorporated into this new product."

  24. Many of the new features in Telix for Windows are unique to the Windows
  25. communication world.  Foremost of the new features is integrated support
  26. for the RIPscrip graphics terminal emulation; Telix for Windows is the
  27. first Windows communication program to *fully* support RIPscrip in *all*
  28. video modes, enabling callers to many online systems to interact
  29. graphically, with icons, graphics images and graphics-based text. Users
  30. of Microsoft Windows will find RIPscrip emulation more closely links
  31. their online sessions to a familiar Windows interface.

  33. Also available in this first release are a graphics image viewer, a
  34. convenient phonebook manager featuring multiple levels of information
  35. storage, and support for network communications. The two popular Telix
  36. scripting languages, SALT and SIMPLE, have been enhanced and upgraded.
  37. Integrated sound card support allows you to attach .WAV files to
  38. communications events, to be played whenever that action occurs.

  40. deltaComm has announced that they will begin marketing Telix for Windows
  41. to the retail channel by selling it only in a shelf-ready, shrink-
  42. wrapped package. Included is a free startup kit for CompuServe and
  43. access to deltaComm's own information service, offering access to
  44. Internet Email, ClariNet News, USA Today, BBS Magazine, Boardwatch
  45. Magazine, and much more. The retail price for Telix for Windows is
  46. $119.00 US, and the product will be available via selected software
  47. stores.

  49. Current Telix users may upgrade from copies of Telix for DOS with valid
  50. registration/serial numbers to Telix for Windows for only $39 US plus
  51. shipping for a limited time. A competitive upgrade plan has also been
  52. announced; by showing proof of purchase of any commercially available
  53. DOS or Windows communication program, users may upgrade to Telix for
  54. Windows for only $69.00 US plus shipping.
