Bloat V1.2 is a Windows 3 program which you can use to find out why your
hard disk never seems to have any free space on it, and to help with
clearing it of unwanted files.
To install Bloat V1.2 simply copy the files BLOAT.EXE and BLOAT.HLP
to a directory included in your PATH, such as your utilities or
Windows directory. Use the New Item on the File menu of Program Manager
to place it in a Program Manager group.
If you wish to use Bloat to create compressed archives then you should
also copy the BDB.EXE and BDB.PIF files to a directory on the PATH. These
two files MUST be in the same directory to operate correctly.
There is no documentation file with this version of Bloat. The on-line
help should include all the information required to run the program.
Bloat uses a Dynamic Link Library (DLL) called THREE_D.DLL to enable it to
display its dialogs using a 3D sculpted effect. The program will, however,
function without this library being available (it just doesn't look as
good). If you obtained Bloat from a Bulletin Board then it is possible that
the library will not have been included in the distribution. It may be
available from the same source with the name 3D.ZIP. If you register Bloat
then you will be sent a version which includes the DLL.
Bloat is a shareware program. You may use it for 21 days to decide whether
you wish to register it. If you continue to use it you are expected to
register it (using the form included in the documentation). Registration
costs ú15 or $25US (cheques only) and entitles you to free upgrades of
version 1 of Bloat.
You are free to distribute Bloat to friends and to upload it to Bulletin
Boards provided the Help file, the documentation file, and this file are
included and you do not charge for distributing it.
However, shareware vendors should first contact Babbacombe Computers for
permission before distributing Bloat, unless they are ASP or ASA-UK
approved vendors. Disks containing Bloat distributed by shareware vendors
should include THREE_D.DLL, if possible.
If you have any problems with Bloat, wish to suggest enhancements, register
it or distribute it, the author can be contacted at:

If you like Bloat then you may wish to try out another program by the same
author, called Dupe. This is another Windows 3 program which will quickly
search one or more disks, or parts of disks, or a network, for duplicate
files - duplicates being considered files with the same name or contents,
as required. Having found these files it will then allow you to print a
list of them, view them and delete them. Dupe registration is normally
ú15 or $25US but is ú10 or $17US for registered users of Bloat. Both can
be registered together for ú25 or $42US.
All prices include VAT where applicable.
