Author's Comments:
HLZGATE.WAD was originally started as a Classic DDOOM .wad and then
converted to DOOM ][. It's setup for all modes and should be a worthy
deathmatch level. If you don't do the route through this level correctly,
an arch-vile will resurrect half the monsters on the level for you <grinz>
ok not quite that bad... but watch out.
HLZALLEY.WAD is the alpha-test project for the **Doom Construction Kit**
w/ Doom ][ support. DCK RULEZ ! READ THE DOCS ALREADY... and trust me you
will like it better than *anything* else for actual dungeon designing. Love
me some DCK action! Unfortunately the coder can't make $$$ off the work (?)
so he's shelved any future releases. No Doom ][ support patch is available..
but you can try whinE-mail :)
The level is meant to be brutal and unforgiving in the extreme. Do not
attempt ultra violence unless you don't mind getting your ass kicked. If
you are one of the few non-mouse players left.. let me give you a clue: get
a mouse! Doom ][ is way too chunky without a fast 486 w/ 8 megs RAM and a
fast video card. I can't wait to upgrade and play modoom at 28.8 :)
This level should be equally entertaining as a coop or deathmatch
level, but it is highly recommended that you learn the level first in
single player mode. If you can complete this level in under 30 minutes you
are a true doom god, but expect to spend an entire evening playing this
level if its the first time. There are a few different routes through this
level but I suggest you go left at the start.
PS: no spider/cyber-demons or bfg's in any mode for either level.

Known Bugs : None. Created an interesting one in the
chaingun/lift room when linedefs attached
to the lift/bars were facing the opposite way
of the adjacent lift lines.

Comments:
This is a close-quarters hack and slash level. There are berserk packs
and chainsaws lying around. Only low-level weaponry, no plasma weapons or
super shotgun on this level. Very very meager supply of rockets. Small and
dirty, this level is not meant to be pretty. As are all my deathmatch
levels, this is designed to minimize color advantages and has very
streamlined design to allow slower computers to run it smoothly.
I did not have time to do a lot of prettying up of the level
in the final stages of development. If there are problems, just
nuke this level/forget about it and try to get the upgrade :)
By loading Soulz.wad and Killjoy.wad you can have an
extended deathmatch from levels 10-19 on some of the best levels
by us, and id. Have fun !!!

want some variety. Very few monsters.

Comments:
Players must choose to forfeit either the plasma gun or the super
shotgun at the start of each life, and start with the other. All other
weapons are available elsewhere in the level. There is no exit so
use the -TIMER xx feature. I put a few more monsters in for monster-lover
deathmatchers. Still no skill levels.
The megasphere is hard to get, as it should be. Don't get trapped
trying to gain a soul sphere... but if you do HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH !!!!!!!!!!
(I took the escape triggers out) And those are not the only places you can
get trapped either. Try trapping someone on the rocket-platform with the
secret switch :) There are enough sniper spots and open spaces to keep just
about everyone happy. Except ultra maze-freaks perhaps.
You may wonder why this level took so long.. well, testing DCK is not
always a picnic. Trust me... This level is the first of a series of
deathmatch levels, the next trilogy will be released in Feb/95 and will
feature some really nifty ways to ensure fragged players dont restart with
major disadvantages. Deathmatch shouldn't be about who gets the first kills
and can guard the good stuff best.

Greetings, bud.
This .wad was created using DCK20(tm*) the less annoying doom editor.
Creator: Killboy
This level is the result of one week of intense doom editing and one year
of totally intense doom playing. I hope you enjoy playing this .wad a
whole crap load more than I enjoyed creating it. :)
Main objectives: Deathmatch
Plasma floor: collect ammo and health, but watch out, those things are hot.
Maze: the rocket launcher is hidden in the middle .. you can fire your
rockets through the windows, but be careful ..
Fortress: gain the fortress, close it off and pick off your enemies with
the chaingun ..
Caverns: many items are hidden in here .. most of them appear to be single
but are in fact several occupying the same space
Have fun, tell your friends and play this lots.
