1. General
===========
This version includes the download software
V3.00 for the ix1-basic board
and the PC drivers for Windows NT and MS DOS.
This software is a part of the ix1 Installation and Interfaces manual.
This version of NT-drivers supports the ix1-basic board with ISA or
PCI bus interface.
With a separate download software and a fax/modem expansion it
supports also the modem operation via CAPI 2.0.
The bin file can be loaded from the express server (file name "ixmodem") or
from our web-server.
To use this bin file you have two possibilities:
a) Before the software installation copy the file "ix.bin" on your copy of the
installation diskette
b) Exchange the file "ix.bin" in the directory
[currentInstallation]\system32\itk (usually c:\WINNT351\system32\itk)
by the file "ixmodem" from the express server.
2. System Requirements
======================
You need the following system requirements in order to use the ix1-basic board
under Windows NT:
for the ix1-basic ISA: 1 free 16 bit ISA/EISA slot for the ix1-basic ISA
or
1 of the following free interrupts:
IRQ 5, 9, 10 or 11
8 free port addresses from one of the following
address ranges:
-0x380-0x387
-0x388-0x38F
-0x390-0x397
-0x398-0x39F
-0x3A0-0x3A7(hardware version 1.2 and higher)
-0x3A8-0x3AF(hardware version 1.2 and higher)
for the ix1-basic PCI: 1 free PCI slot for the ix1-basic PCI
1 free interrupt (IRQ) ix1-basic PCI supports all
available interrupts
3 blocks from port addresses
(64 Byte, 8 Byte and 8 Byte)
all possible addresses are supported
3. CAPI2.0
==========
At the application interface "DLL" the Windows NT driver supports exclusively
CAPI 2.0. On the other hand, the "device driver" interface is a "multiple" CAPI
interface. This means that it supports CAPI1.1, CAPI2.0 and CAPIplus. CAPI1.1,
CAPI2.0 and CAPIplus applications can be started at the same time.
The following B channel protocols are supported according to CAPI1.1 supplements:
* Bit Transparent,
* HDLC Transparent,
* V.110,
* T.90
* ISO 8208 and
* Fax group 3 with 14400 bit/s
The following B channel protocols are supported according to CAPI2.0:
* Bit Transparent,
* HDLC Transparent,
* T.30,
* X.75,
* Modem and
* LAPD for D channel X.25,
* T.90 NL and
* ISO 8208
For the protocols modem and T.30 the fax/modem hardware expansion is required.
4. X.25 Support
===============
This software supports the following X.25 modes:
B channel: X.31 Case A (no bitrate adaption)
X.31 Case B
D channel: X.31 Case B
5. Network Protocol Variants
============================
The default D channel protocol is set to Euro-ISDN (DSS-1).
To use another D channel protocol the ix1 board has to be configured by using
the tool SETLINE under MS DOS. In order to start SETLINE you have boot the PC
under MS DOS.
The use of SETLINE is described in the ix1 Installation and Interfaces manual.
The standard scope of delivery for the board software contains
the following protocols:
Euro protocol (Euro-ISDN/NET3/DSS-1),
1TR6 (Germany),
VN3 (France),
Norway Phase 1 (Norway),
Q.931 (CCITT blue book),
Cornet N and
ECMA Q.SIG.
If you wish to use the protocol type VN4 (France) then set Q.931.
The protocol DSS1-TK is designed for PBXs that are not supporting the
information element "sending complete".
Now some examples for settings: SETLINE -D 0 <RETURN> select 1TR6
or
SETLINE -D 15 <RETURN> select DSS1-TK
or
SETLINE -D 8 <RETURN> select Norway Phase 1
(Norway)
6. Leased Lines
===============
The ix1 software for the ix1-basic board supports the following leased lines in
the area of the Deutsche Telekom AG:
a) D64S (0 D channel, 1 B channel)
(The device driver interface is actually supported only via CAPIplus.)
b) DS01/TS01 (1 D channel, 1 B channel)
c) DS02/TS02 (1 D channel, 2 B channels)
The different types of lines can be set with SETLINE
(see point 5. Network protocol variants):
a) D64S (0 D channel, 1 B channel)
The settings for NT-TE side are ignored, because no D channel is available
For the bandwidth set bit 3 on 2x64 Kbit.
The Line Access value is therefore:
10111=23 (dez) (setline -1 23)
b) DS01/TS01 (1 D channel, 1 B channel)
Both subscribers (A and B) of leased lines have to be configured
differently for a proper operation.
Bit 2 must be set:
- on A of NT-side and
- on B of TE-side.
For the bandwidth set bit 3 on 2x64 Kbit.
The Line Access values are therefore:
A (NT) = 00111 = 7 (setline -d 0 -l 7)
B (TE) = 00011 = 3 (setline -d 0 -l 3)
c) DS02/TS02 (1 D channel, 2 B channel)
Both subscribers (A and B) of leased lines have to be configured
differently for a proper operation.
Bit 2 must be set:
- on A of NT-side and
- on B of TE-side.
For the bandwidth set bit 3 on 1x128 Kbit this means that both
B channels are bundled.
The Line Access values are therefore:
A (NT) = 01111 = 15(dez) (setline -d 0 -l 15)
B (TE) = 01011 = 11(dez) (setline -d 0 -l 11)

11. Problems / Remarks / History
=================================
a) In this version the fax/modem expansion is recognized automatically.
b) The actual version is not compatible to previous versions regarding the
compression.
Data connections between the actual version and previous versions work
uncompressed.
c) The update download file needs the supplied bootfile ixboot.scr.
d) For each ITK ix1-basic board you have to execute an installation.
An existing installation can -at the moment- only be deinstalled completely.
This means that boards can't be deinstalled separately.
If you wish to operate two boards instead of three, you first have to
deinstall all boards and then execute the installation for the remaining
two boards.
e) If you wish to install an ITK ix1-basic PCI board in a PC with several
PCI buses (not PCI slots!) you have to enter the chosen bus in the
registry database (if it is not already set to the default bus 0).
