W i n N E T M a i l (TM)
Terms and Conditions.
1. The WinNET Mail (TM) software is distributed freely for
the purpose of connecting with the WinNET (UK) service.
There is no charge for the software as long as it is
used for this purpose.
2. The WinNET service is billed on a connect time basis at
the rate of (all prices in UK Pounds + VAT):
£3.25 per hour
There is a monthly minimum charge of £6.75 while you
have an account with us. This means that if you use less
than £6.75 worth of connect time (billed at £3.25 per
hour), you will be billed the minimum of £6.75.
There is a per account minimum charge of £6.75.
Accounts created and then ended shortly thereafter will
be billed at minimum £6.75.
The minimum monthly charge is prorated to the actual
number of days of service in the first month of service.
There is no charge for new account set up other than
a minimum life-time charge of £6.75 per account.
Accounts that are created and then disconnected before
billing £6.75 in connect time or monthly minimum
charges will be billed a total of £6.75. Access to this
service and the networks connected to it is subject
to the Computer Misuse Act.
Please note that agreeing to these terms you Authorise PC
User Group to charge your Credit Card / Bank Account
variable ammounts in respect of your subscription.
Connect time is recorded in increments of one second.
All amounts are denominated in UK GB Pounds Sterling, and
costs are plus VAT at the prevailing rates.
2a SLIP/PPP Accounts are available and charged at an additiona
flat fee of £8.25 per month + VAT (no time charges).
This takes the monthly minimum to £15.00 per month + VAT.
If you require a CONNECT interactive account (2b) in
addition the to a SLIP/PPP account the cost for 2a and 2b
is £10.25 per month + VAT (flat FEE)
World Wide Web Home Pages can be provides to SLIP/PPP
users. This costs £2.00 per month for the first 521k
and then £4.00 per month for each additional Mb of

2b CONNECT BBS based Interactive service are charged at
the flat fee of £7.25 per month + VAT (no time charges).
This is for access to telnet, World Wide Web and other
Interactive Internet services via a terminal session.
Please remember that this will take you monthly minimum
charge to £14.00 per month + VAT.
To open either account type please mail help@win-uk.net
and ask for an SLIP/PPP or CONNECT Interactive Account to
be set up.
2c. Access via nodes outside London is charged on the following
basis -- Peak (Mon to Fri 8am to 6pm) 1.6 pence per minute
Off Peak (At all other times) 1.2 pence per minute
These charges do not count towards your monthly minimum.
We anticipate than users will save in the region of 40%
of there telecom charges in comparison to the BT b rate.
3. Payment. As part of your account registration we
request a credit card number for payment. You will be
charged £6.75 when you first establish your account as
your account's life-time minimum charge. This £6.75 is
fully credited toward connect time charges and your
monthly minimums if you continue your account.
You will be sent a statement of account usage via
WinNET mail after the end of the month. Your credit
card will be charged for the amount on the statement.
Other payment arrangements are possible, please contact
us. These include 6 monthly prepayment and payment
by Direct Debit (monthly) for details of these please call
the office for details and the relevant forms.
Failure to provide valid details for payment or other
subsequent non-payment will cause your account to be
ended.
4. Ending Service. If you choose to terminate your account
on WinNET, all you need to do is contact us by WinNET
eMail, letter, telephone or Fax. We will end your service on
the date that you request. The PC User Group may at its sole
discretion elect to suspend, or terminate its provision of
service to you at any time for breach of any of these terms
or any other reason.
5. PC User Group exercises no control whatever over
the content of the information passing through the
WinNET system. PC User Group is not responsible
for the accuracy, quality, or content of the information
obtained through its service. PC User Group makes
no warranty, whether expressed or implied, for the
service it offers. PC User Group disclaims any
warranty of merchantability of fitness for a particular
purpose.
Although no control is exercised on mail and news
passing through the PC User Group Internet site we
request that users abide by what is generally considered
good net practice (netiquette). Also that you abide by AUP
(acceptable use policy) when traversing such areas of
the Internet that require it (eg NSFNet).
6. PC User Group makes no warranty whether expressed
or implied for the WinNET Mail software. No warranty of
merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose is
provided for the WinNET Mail software.
7. WinNET may only be used for lawful purposes.
Transmission of any material in violation of United
Kingdom law, laws of the nation in which WinNET is used,
or state law or regulation is prohibited. This
includes, but is not limited to: copyrighted material,
material legally judged to be threatening or obscene, or
material protected by trade secret. You agree to
indemnify and hold harmless PC User Group from any
claims resulting from your use of the WinNET service or
WinNET Mail software which damages you or another party.
8. The WinNET Mail (TM) software may be distributed by you
to others as long as you agree to all conditions listed
in the READ_1ST.TXT and VENDOR.TXT files.
9. We reserve the right to change the terms of this contract
with you at any time giving 30 days notice.
