  1. W i n N E T   M a i l (TM)
  2.  
  3. Terms and Conditions.
  4.  
  5. 1.  The WinNET Mail (TM) software is distributed freely for
  6.     the purpose of connecting with the WinNET (UK) service.
  7.     There is no charge for the software as long as it is
  8.     used for this purpose.
  9.  
  10. 2.  The WinNET service is billed on a connect time basis at
  11.     the rate of (all prices in UK Pounds + VAT):
  12.  
  13.                 £3.25 per hour
  14.  
  15.     There is a monthly minimum charge of £6.75 while you
  16.     have an account with us.  This means that if you use less
  17.     than £6.75 worth of connect time (billed at £3.25 per
  18.     hour), you will be billed the minimum of £6.75.
  19.  
  20.     There is a per account minimum charge of £6.75.
  21.     Accounts created and then ended shortly thereafter will
  22.     be billed at minimum £6.75.
  23.  
  24.     The minimum monthly charge is prorated to the actual
  25.     number of days of service in the first month of service.
  26.  
  27.     There is no charge for new account set up other than
  28.     a minimum life-time charge of £6.75 per account.
  29.     Accounts that are created and then disconnected before
  30.     billing £6.75 in connect time or monthly minimum
  31.     charges will be billed a total of £6.75.  Access to this
  32.     service and the networks connected to it is subject 
  33.     to the Computer Misuse Act.
  34.  
  35.     Please note that agreeing to these terms you Authorise PC
  36.     User Group to charge your Credit Card / Bank Account
  37.     variable ammounts in respect of your subscription.
  38.  
  39.     Connect time is recorded in increments of one second.
  40.     All amounts are denominated in UK GB Pounds Sterling, and
  41.     costs are plus VAT at the prevailing rates.
  42.  
  43. 2a  SLIP/PPP Accounts are available and charged at an additiona
  44.     flat fee of £8.25 per month + VAT (no time charges).
  45.     This takes the monthly minimum to £15.00 per month + VAT.
  46.     If you require a CONNECT interactive account (2b) in 
  47.     addition the to a SLIP/PPP account the cost for 2a and 2b
  48.     is £10.25 per month + VAT (flat FEE)
  49.     
  50.     World Wide Web Home Pages can be provides to SLIP/PPP
  51.     users.  This costs £2.00 per month for the first 521k
  52.     and then £4.00 per month for each additional Mb of

  59. 2b  CONNECT BBS based Interactive service are charged at 
  60.     the flat fee of £7.25 per month + VAT (no time charges).
  61.     This is for access to telnet, World Wide Web and other
  62.     Interactive Internet services via a terminal session.
  63.     Please remember that this will take you monthly minimum
  64.     charge to £14.00 per month + VAT.

  66.     To open either account type please mail help@win-uk.net
  67.     and ask for an SLIP/PPP or CONNECT Interactive Account to 
  68.     be set up.

  70. 2c. Access via nodes outside London is charged on the following 
  71.     basis -- Peak (Mon to Fri 8am to 6pm) 1.6 pence per minute
  72.          Off Peak (At all other times)    1.2 pence per minute
  73.  
  74.     These charges do not count towards your monthly minimum.
  75.     We anticipate than users will save in the region of 40%
  76.     of there telecom charges in comparison to the BT b rate.
  77.  
  78. 3.  Payment.  As part of your account registration we
  79.     request a credit card number for payment.  You will be
  80.     charged £6.75 when you first establish your account as
  81.     your account's life-time minimum charge.  This £6.75 is
  82.     fully credited toward connect time charges and your
  83.     monthly minimums if you continue your account.
  84.  
  85.     You will be sent a statement of account usage via
  86.     WinNET mail after the end of the month.  Your credit
  87.     card will be charged for the amount on the statement.
  88.  
  89.     Other payment arrangements are possible, please contact
  90.     us.  These include 6 monthly prepayment and payment
  91.     by Direct Debit (monthly) for details of these please call
  92.     the office for details and the relevant forms.
  93.  
  94.     Failure to provide valid details for payment or other
  95.     subsequent non-payment will cause your account to be
  96.     ended.
  97.  
  98. 4.  Ending Service.  If you choose to terminate your account
  99.     on WinNET, all you need to do is contact us by WinNET
  100.     eMail, letter, telephone or Fax.  We will end your service on
  101.     the date that you request.  The PC User Group may at its sole
  102.     discretion elect to suspend, or terminate its provision of 
  103.     service to you at any time for breach of any of these terms 
  104.     or any other reason.
  105.     
  106. 5.  PC User Group exercises no control whatever over
  107.     the content of the information passing through the
  108.     WinNET system.  PC User Group is not responsible
  109.     for the accuracy, quality, or content of the information
  110.     obtained through its service.  PC User Group makes
  111.     no warranty, whether expressed or implied, for the
  112.     service it offers.  PC User Group disclaims any
  113.     warranty of merchantability of fitness for a particular
  114.     purpose.
  115.  
  116.     Although no control is exercised on mail and news
  117.     passing through the PC User Group Internet site we
  118.     request that users abide by what is generally considered
  119.     good net practice (netiquette).  Also that you abide by AUP 
  120.     (acceptable use policy) when traversing such areas of 
  121.     the Internet that require it (eg NSFNet).

  123. 6.  PC User Group makes no warranty whether expressed
  124.     or implied for the WinNET Mail software.  No warranty of
  125.     merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose is
  126.     provided for the WinNET Mail software.
  127.  
  128. 7.  WinNET may only be used for lawful purposes.
  129.     Transmission of any material in violation of United
  130.     Kingdom law, laws of the nation in which WinNET is used,
  131.     or state law or regulation is prohibited.  This
  132.     includes, but is not limited to: copyrighted material,
  133.     material legally judged to be threatening or obscene, or
  134.     material protected by trade secret.  You agree to
  135.     indemnify and hold harmless PC User Group from any
  136.     claims resulting from your use of the WinNET service or
  137.     WinNET Mail software which damages you or another party.
  138.  
  139. 8.  The WinNET Mail (TM) software may be distributed by you
  140.     to others as long as you agree to all conditions listed
  141.     in the READ_1ST.TXT and VENDOR.TXT files.
  142.  
  143. 9.  We reserve the right to change the terms of this contract 
  144.     with you at any time giving 30 days notice.
