  1. J-PERK INSTALL NOTES

  9. If you received an error stating:
  10.  
  11. "A required .DLL file, MSVBVM50.DLL, was not found"
  12.  
  13. and J-Perk won't run, you must download this file from:
  14.  
  15. ftp://ftp.simtel.net/pub/simtelnet/win95/dll/vb5rtsp3.zip
  16.  
  17.  
  18. Unzip the vb5rtsp3.zip file and run the vb5rtsp3.exe file contained 
  19. within it.  This file will install the files that J-Perk 
  20. needs in order to execute correctly.  When it has completed the 
  21. installation, then run J-Perk.  Our Web site

  30. INSTALLATION
  31. ============
  32. To install run the setup.exe file and follow the 
  33. on-screen instructions.
  34.  
  35. If Setup determines that some of the files are already on
  36. the system, or if the software is installed a second
  37. time, the install progress bar won't always go
  38. to 100%.  This is "normal". Also, after the setup
  39. runs there may be an empty button with no caption
  40. on the task bar. Clicking it will make it go away.
  41. This is "normal" too.
  42.  
  43. If you encounter error messages during installation 
  44. which give you the option to "Abort, Ignore, Retry", 
  45. first retry, then if that doesn't work choose Ignore 
  46. each time it asks you.
  47. When setup completes, it is most likely that J-Perk 
  48. will work, but the applets did not install.  Find the 
  49. applet pack (applets.zip) included with the J-Perk 
  50. evaluation zip file and unzip it into your J-Perk 
  51. directory.  This should do the trick.

  54. Missing DLLs
  55. ------------
  56. If the installation doesn't start and you get a message 
  57. you're missing MFCxxx.DLL, you do not have some
  58. of the standard Windows support DLL files.
  59.  
  60. Under Windows 95, this may have happened because
  61. Win95 was installed with Custom or Compact setup
  62. options. You can nudge Win95 to install the needed
  63. DLLs by installing WordPad. From Control Panel,
  64. click Add/Remove Programs. Click the Windows Setup
  65. tab and double-click Accessories. Scroll down to
  66. the bottom of the list and check WordPad. OK your
  67. way out to complete the installation.
