1. Introduction
Part Mystery. Part Mayhem. Pure Terror! Step into the horrifying mystery of Killing Time. As a
student of Egyptology searching for an ancient waterclock from the dynasty of the Pharaoh
Ramses, you are the first person to walk on the island of Matinicus, closed to visitors for more
than 60 years. Meet young heiress Tess Conway, lost with her high society friends on the
Summer Solstice, 1932. Tess was obsessed with the occult, and the water clock was rumored to
grant everlasting life. Can you find the secret of youth and still escape alive? You are trapped in
a first-person passage through unspeakable evil. Surrounded by hosts of the undead, use your
wits and your weapons to make your way to the heart of this terrible mystery. Creep through
dark hallways into the dim rooms of the past, speak to the video-real shades of former residents,
and kill or be killed until you solve the mystery of Matinicus Isle. Not just a sophisticated shooter
laced with dark humor, Killing Time's gameplay is reminiscent of the first-person corridor
mayhem of Quake(TM) mixed with the puzzle solving intricacies of The 11th Hour: The sequel to
The 7th Guest(TM). Good Luck.
2. DirectX
Killing Time requires the DirectX .dlls for DirectDraw(TM) and DirectSound(TM) in order to play. Killing
Time does not auto-install these .dlls on your system, but the DirectX folder is provided so that
you can install these items.
To install DirectX, open the DirectX folder and run the "Dxsetup.exe". This setup function will
detect current DirectX .dlls and prompt you to "Install DirectX"; simply click the installation bar,
and the required .dlls will be installed on your system. The setup will then prompt you to restart
your system, which you must do in order to activate the new system extensions and play Killing
Time.
3. Installation
Killing Time will run directly from the CD, though performance may be improved by copying the
entire contents of the CD onto your hard disk. Please make sure that all of the files remain within
