  8. Finally you can choose how many balls that YOU want in
  9. EPIC's Extreme Pinball! You can select 1 to 255 balls
  10. (if you need more than that... well you must be worse
  11. than I am <g>). This version of E X T R E M E BALLS
  12. prevents the updating of your high scores (after all,
  13. E X T R E M E BALLS is just for practice, right <g>?).

  15. This program will only work on the registered version of
  16. Extreme Pinball. *NOTE* CD version *MUST* be fully
  17. installed to the hard drive.
  18.  
  19. First make a backup copy of the USER.TXT file that is in
  20. your EXTREME directory in case something goes wrong
  21. (i.e. COPY USER.TXT USER.ORI <enter>). Then copy the
  22. file EBALLS.EXE to your EXTREME directory.

  24. To run, type: EBALLS <enter>.
  25. Now select how many balls that you want. When you exit
  26. EBALLS, Extreme Pinball will automaticly run. You can
  27. exit E X T R E M E BALLS and abort the whole thing by
  28. pressing <control><break>.

  30. If you are having memory problems make sure that you
  31. have upper memory enabled (in your CONFIG.SYS file there
  32. should be two lines that read "DEVICE=C:\DOS\HIMEM.SYS
  33. and "DEVICE=C:\DOS\EMM386.EXE"), make sure that DOS is
  34. loading high (in your CONFIG.SYS file there should be a
  35. line that reads DOS=HIGH,UMB). Reboot your computer.
  36. Then, at the prompt type: LH EBALLS <enter>.

  38. Try doing a clean bootup (check out the HELPME.DOC that
  39. came with Extreme Pinball).
  40.  
  41. Like I said before, anytime that E X T R E M E BALLS is
  42. run your high scores will not be touched. When you exit
  43. Extreme Pinball AFTER running E X T R E M E BALLS the
  44. game will be reset to how it was set up before. If you
  45. run Extreme Pinball without E X T R E M E BALLS then all
  46. of your high scores will be logged.

  48. If anything goes wrong simply restore the USER.TXT file
  49. (you DID back it up didn't you?) and delete the
  50. PARAM.DAT, PARAM.BAK, USER.TMP, and USER.BAK files
  51. (if present) from your EXTREME directory. I have found
  52. that if there is a problem (you aren't getting the extra
  53. balls etc...), running E X T R E M E BALLS three times
  54. in succession usually straightens things out.

  56. Also the program temporarily changes the score files
  57. (SCORE_x.DAT) read only attribute to on. If the power
  58. glitches while running Extreme Pinball with
  59. E X T R E M E BALLS, the next time that you play the game
  60. normally this will inhibit the updating of your high
  61. scores. Running E X T R E M E BALLS once will solve this.

  71. Being that my last uploads of BALLS and SILVERBALLS have
  72. been downloaded more than 5000 times from CI$ alone, and
  73. I have only received 3 postcards!!!!!, this program will
  74. run only ONCE and then disable itself....

  78. Of course I will take no responsibility if your computer
  79. blows up, one of the balls breaks the glass on your
  80. monitor <G>, or your axe is out of tune, but it sure
  81. works great on mine!
