  6.  This is the fast to run PGP with TerMail!

  8.  1. Getting the files:
  9.  
  10.       PGP263.ZIP & TERPGP35.ZIP
  11.  
  12.       PGP263.ZIP is available on any decent BBS. (Philip Zimmermann)
  13.       TERPGP35.ZIP is available from all Terminate sites. (Dave Wapstra)
  14.  
  15.  2. Setting up PGP FAST!
  16.  
  17.       Make a directory under TERMAIL called PGP and unpack
  18.       PGP262.ZIP in this directory.
  19.  
  20.       Md C:\TERMINAT\TERMAIL\PGP
  21.       Cd C:\TERMINAT\TERMAIL\PGP
  22.       Pkunzip C:\TERMINAT\DOWNLOAD\PGP263.ZIP
  23.  
  24.       Edit the file CONFIG.TXT, find the line (around line 10)
  25.       "# MyName =" Remove the # and insert your name like this:
  26.  
  27.       MyName = "Bo Bendtsen"
  28.                  ^^^^^^ <------  Your name
  29.  
  30.       Run PGP: PGP -kg (generate key-pair). Select military style 1024 bit
  31.       encryption for maximum protection and just follow the instructions.
  32.  
  33.       Edit AUTOEXEC.BAT and insert two lines:
  34.  
  35.       SET PGPPATH=C:\TERMINAT\TERMAIL\PGP
  36.       SET PGPPASS=your secret pass phrase
  37.  
  38.       Please note that PGPPASS can be omitted for security reasons, but
  39.       then you have to enter the pass phrase (password) each time you
  40.       want to sign or encrypt a message. If someone else have access to
  41.       your machine and you are paranoid you should ommit it.

  43.       Boot the machine to allow the SET to come into effect.
  44.  
  45.       PGP has now been installed. Easy right?

  47.  3. Setting up TerMail interface

  49.       Md C:\TERMINAT\TERMAIL\TERPGP
  50.       Cd C:\TERMINAT\TERMAIL\TERPGP
  51.       Pkunzip C:\TERMINAT\DOWNLOAD\TERPGP35.ZIP

  56.        Edit TM.CFG search for ShiftF1

  58.        Replace the line with this:

  60.        ShiftF1    PGP   TerPGP\TerPGP !MSG FORCEMENU

  62.        Enable AFTERMSG.BAT in TM.CFG
  63.        Enable TerPGP\TERPGP.EXE TM.MSG in AFTERMSG.BAT

  75.        Please note the !R command which will reload message text after
  76.        the message was processed. This will be all you need.

  78.  4. It works you have the ultimate protection from snooping people.
  79.     Now you can even access and maintain everything by
  80.     pressing Shift-F1 on a message and Dave's interface will handle
  81.     everything and you just got around that part of reading documentation
  82.     now where someone makes it easy for you! Please read the below rules
  83.     if you want to use this encryption technology. Please crash all
  84.     encrypted mail through Fidonet.

  88.  2.1.4  Encryption and Review of Mail
  89.  
  90.  FidoNet is an amateur system.  Our technology is such that the privacy of
  91.  messages cannot be guaranteed.  As a sysop, you have the right to review
  92.  traffic flowing through your system, if for no other reason than to ensure
  93.  that the system is not being used for illegal or commercial purposes.
  94.  Encryption obviously makes this review impossible.  Therefore, encrypted
  95.  and/or commercial traffic that is routed without the express permission of
  96.  all the links in the delivery system constitutes annoying behavior.  See
  97.  section 1.3.6 for a definition of commercial traffic.
