  57. WHAT IS THE BEATLES SONG INDEX?
  58.  
  59. The Beatles Song Index provides information about the songs of the
  60. Beatles. All songs the Beatles have recorded and published officially
  61. were evaluated for the Beatles Song Index. The index was compiled as an
  62. OS/2 help file and uses all features of the OS/2 help system including
  63. hypertext function, keyword search and bookmarks.
  64.  
  65. The following information is available as a rule for every song: song
  66. composer, main vocalist, recording dates and places, producers and sound
  67. engineers, running time, guest musicians, release date, highest UK chart
  68. position for single and EP releases, recorded takes and a selection of
  69. recorded cover versions by other artists.

  71. The main points of the index are the songs. For example it does not
  72. contain a complete discography of the Beatles releases. Taken into
  73. account for the index are all the songs that were officially published in
  74. the United Kingdom. Beyond this additional songs were taken into account
  75. which were recorded during the "Get Back sessions" and were exclusively
  76. published in the Let It Be film. You can also find songs which the
  77. Beatles have written and given away to other artists but have never
  78. recorded for themselves. Also included in the index are the "speech"
  79. tracks avaiable on the " Live At The BBC "-album and the "Anthology"
  80. albums. Some statistical evaluations of the song material round off the
  81. functionality of the index.

  83. The Beatles Song Index can answer the following questions for example:
  84. Which songs were recorded on July 30th, 1963? Which songs have a
  85. duration of 2'32? Which songs were recorded in London's Olympic Sound
  86. Studios? Which Buddy Holly songs did the Beatles record? What was the
  87. working title of "I Saw here Standing There"? Which was the highest chart
  88. position of the All My Loving EP? On which songs did George Harrison sing
  89. the lead voice? Is there a live version of "Help!" and on which album is
  90. it available? Sidney Sax plays violin on several Beatles songs. On which
  91. ones?

  94. M-Z. The registered version contains all songs of course!

  114. ===== Installation =====================================

  116. HOW TO INSTALL THE B.S.I.?
  117.  
  118. To install the Beatles Song Index run the file "install.cmd". The
  119. installation program asks you for the directory to install. Accept the
  120. proposed disk and directory or type a new target directory. Follow the
  121. installation instructions. A folder will be created on the workplace
  122. shell. To run the B.S.I. click on the corresponding icon in the new
  123. folder. The B.S.I. is a data file in the OS/2 help file format (INF). It
  124. runs by using the program VIEW.EXE which is part of the operating system.

  126. Note:
  127. The installation does NOT change any system files and does NOT copy
  128. any other files to your system then the ones which you find in the target
  129. directory. To uninstall the B.S.I. simply delete the files in the target
  130. directory and delete the folder on the workplace shell.
