  1. SHORTHAND 5.x FOR WINDOWS PRICE LIST

  7. You can register on-line with a credit card through the
  8. Shorthand Home Page at http://www.alumni.caltech.edu/~lim/shorthand.

  10. There are three types of Licenses:
  11. 1. USER LICENSE ($49) -  license for 1 person for office use. 
  12. 2. PC LICENSE ($29) - a low-cost copy protected license for 1 PC for home use.
  13. 3. SITE LICENSE ($98 per 10 users) - a multi-user license for company-wide use.

  15. User License (US$49 per User)
  16. -----------------------------
  17. A User License gives you a personalized Single User License File
  18. which allows you to install Shorthand on any 
  19. computer you use.
  20. Only the person named in the License File is allowed to use that
  21. particular copy of Shorthand.  The License File is not
  22. copy protected.

  24. Single PC License (US$29 per PC)
  25. ------------------- -------------
  26. The Single PC License gives you one (1) license  
  27. to run Shorthand 5 on a single PC. 
  28. The PC License is intended for price-senstive home users who 
  29. don't mind the inconvenience of copy-protection in exchange 
  30. for a lower price.
  31. To get the PC License you must send the PC ID and USER ID (obtained 
  32. by clicking the Register button in Shorthand's About Box) 
  33. along with the license fee to OfficeSoft. OfficeSoft will 
  34. then email you a password that allows you to use Shorthand 
  35. on that PC.

  37. Notes:
  38. - The license is a PC-based license (*not* a user-based
  39.   license). If you want to move Shorthand to another PC you
  40.   will have purchase another license for the new PC.
  41.   (If your job requires you to change your PC frequently,
  42.   you should get the User License as described above.)
  43. - The PC License employs software copy-protection and cannot
  44.   be copied to another computer. If you don't like copy-protection,
  45.   you should consider purchasing the User License described above.
  46. - Once a PC is properly licensed, you can download and
  47.   install the latest version of Shorthand 5 on the licensed
  48.   PC without charge from the Shorthand Home Page (see
  49.   Shorthand's About Box for the exact URL address). If you
  50.   don't have access to the Web, you can get the latest version
  51.   on a disk for a small service charge (see "Getting the
  52.   Unregistered Version of Shorthand on a Disk" below).

  54. Multiple PC Licenses (US$19 per PC)
  55. -----------------------------------
  56. If you register for two or more PC licenses, the cost is only 
  57. US$19 for each PC license.
  58. The PC ID and USER ID are different for every PC.  
  59. You must send OfficeSoft the PC ID and USER ID plus the
  60. license fee for each PC you want to register.

  62. Site Licenses
  63. -------------
  64. A Site License gives you a Site License File which allows you
  65. to install Shorthand on any computer located at a single physical 
  66. site so long as the number of persons who have access to Shorthand
  67. at any one time is not greater than the number of authorized users 
  68. specified in the License File. The License File is NOT copy
  69. protected.
  70. A Site License costs US$98 for 10 users, US$395 for 50 users 
  71. and US$495 for 100 users. Prices are subject to change at any
  72. time.

  74. Upgrade from a Previous Version of Shorthand
  75. --------------------------------------------
  76. If you are a registered user of Shorthand 4.0 or earlier, 
  77. you can upgrade for only US$19 per PC LICENSE or US$29 per
  78. USER LICENSE.

  80. Getting the Unregistered Version of Shorthand
  81. on a Disk (US$10 per disk)
  82. ---------------------------------------------
  83. The current, unregistered version of Shorthand can be
  84. downloaded from the Shorthand Home Page on the World Wide Web
  85. (refer to Shorthand's About Box for the URL address).
  86. You can also receive the unregistered program on a 3.5" disk
  87. by sending US$10 to OfficeSoft.
  88. IMPORTANT! The disk contains the unregistered version of
  89. Shorthand. To be able to use the program you must have a
  90. current License (as described above) for each PC that will
  91. be running Shorthand.

  93. Registering through the Internet
  94. --------------------------------

  100. Registering By Mail
  101. -------------------
  102. OfficeSoft accepts only checks or money orders drawn in
  103. US dollars. (Note: Please do not send credit card orders
  104. by mail!) Please mail your check to:

  111. If you are purchasing a PC License, don't forget to include the 
  112. PC ID and USER ID (obtained by clicking the Registration button 
  113. in Shorthand's About Box).  We cannot send you a password unless 
  114. you send us the PC ID and USER ID for each PC you want to register!

  116. Registering through Compuserve
  117. ------------------------------
  118. You register through Compuserve's SWREG forum (GO SWREG).
  119. Use SWREG ID #2649 to purchase a single PC License
  120. Use SWREG ID #13280 to purchase upgrades or multiple PC Licenses.
  121. Use SWREG ID #13281 to purchase a single User License.
