Simeon Mail 4.1.3 Features and Improvements
Last modified: November 14, 1997
Improvements
* ***MAJOR*** performance improvement if you use a remote
(IMAP) sentmail folder!!!!
* extended keyboard functionality enabled on the Mac.
* new options (will be in the sysdflt.tcl) to suppress
the ability to create local/remote folders and/or
local/remote address books:
option -default Folders.EnableLocal "FALSE"
option -default Folders.EnableRemote "FALSE"
option -default AddrBook.EnableLocal "FALSE"
option -default AddrBook.EnableRemote "FALSE"
If these options are missing, then Simeon behaves as it
always has and enables both local and remote folders and
address books.
* Simeon now displays attachments in messages (from
Netscape 4) that are in HTML format.
* added a new option that Simeon can interpret:
option -default General.ReadReceiptAdditionalText ""
The additional text replaces the second sentence in a
read receipt message stating "There is no guarantee that
the content has been read or understood." rfc draft text.
This can be set via the sysdlft.tcl or the global
(common) IMSP options (/var/imsp/options) file.
* Double clicking in the Organizer windows on an object
which is already opened in another window and iconified,
will now restore the window and bring it forward. In
4.1.2 and earlier, this was only done with Viewer windows
on the Windows platforms. Now any iconified (minimized)
window on Windows or Motif will be restored.(Folder and
Addressbook context windows, Viewer windows etc.) Note
that this is not applicable on the Macintosh platform.
* "File->New->Message Group" now inserts the new message
group in front of the current selection.
---------------------------------------------------------
Simeon Mail 4.1.2 Improvements
Last modified: August 8, 1997
Improvements
(All platforms)
* Added drop connection handling code during expunge.
* Made ACL handlers rfc2086 ("IMAP4 ACL extension")
compliant
* Added PGP userID in PGP preferences rather use From
Address as userID.
* Improved PGP error handling.
* All options values listed in the sysdflt.tcl are now
case insensitive to Simeon (eg. always, ALWAYS, Always
and aLwAyS are now equivalent).
* Added a new option for site admins (to be put the
sysdflt.tcl):
option -default Send.SuppressSenderHeader "TRUE"
which suppresses the creation of a sender header. This
option was added for sites that run a LISTSERV list
manager. The MAJORDOMO list manager works correctly (i.e
there is _no_ need to use the option) with Simeon.
* If a user does not have an "outbox" folder created, nor
defined as an option, and decides to queue a message,
this folder will automatically be created for them in
their "Local Folders" message service when they hit the
"send" button.
(Motif)
* added private colormap for banner window to reduce
default colormap usage.
* decreased icon color usage.
* added PGP support for ~/.pgp directory, if it exists at
startup.
* the Simeon PGP wrapper nows prompts the user with
"Press return to continue"
(Windows and Motif)
* Added command line argument to suppress banner display.
(use the "-b" arguement)
(Macintosh)
* an installer has been built that will allow for a much
more user friendly install for first time Simeon for Mac
users. (basically, creates a custom sysdflt.tcl file that
is IMAP server specific much like for Windows)
* Added PGP auto encrypt and sign.
---------------------------------------------------------
