  3. Introduction
  4. ------------
  5. Do you have a friend that has the Microsoft Intellitype software installed 
  6. and now has easy access to a lot of common Windows 95 functionality through 
  7. hotkeys? Now you can have the same and even more with æHotkeysÆ.
  8.  
  9. æHotkeysÆ is a program that allows you to define hotkeys to:
  10.  
  11. -  Start applications (like control panel applets or frequently used 
  12.    programs).  
  13. -  Send keystrokes to other applications.
  14. -  Exit Windows, log off Windows or reboot your computer.
  15. -  Quickly access some of Hotkeys internal functions like the Hotkey 
  16.    editor or the Hotkey list.

  19. How To Use Hotkeys
  20. ------------------
  21. Copy the Hotkeys program, the sample hotkey definition file (Hotkeys.hkd) 
  22. and the Hotkeys helpfile (Hotkeys.hlp) to a directory somewhere on your 
  23. hard disk and create a shortcut to the æHotkeysÆ program in your Startup 
  24. folder. Now, every time you start Windows, the Hotkeys program is started 
  25. as well. If you press a hotkey defined in the hotkey definition file, 
  26. Hotkeys will perform the associated action (e.g. starting an application, 
  27. sending keystrokes etc). You can see that Hotkeys works by looking at the 
  28. tray-icon: an animation of a key being pressed is played every time you 
  29. press a registered hotkey.

  31. To edit the hotkey definitions, right click on the Hotkeys tray-icon and 
  32. select Edit hotkeys from the popup-menu or press Win+H. This will bring up 
  33. the Hotkey editor, where you can add, edit or delete hotkey definitions.

  35. PostcardWare
  36. ------------
  37. The Hotkeys program and the accompanying source-files are PostcardWare. This 
  38. means that youÆre completely free to use or modify it to suit your needs, 
  39. with just a few restrictions:

  41. -  The original copyright remains with the author of the software.  
  42. -  It is not allowed to sell this package as a whole pretending you wrote 
  43.    it or otherwise distribute it under your own name. 
  44. -  You are encouraged to distribute this package to anybody you like, but 
  45.    you have to give him or her the entire archive unmodified. 
  46. -  YouÆre not allowed to ask money for the distribution of this package.
  47. -  If you use (portions of) the source-code in your own programs, you donÆt 
  48.    have to mention my name in the credits or about-box. You do have a moral 
  49.    obligation to send me a postcard of your hometown however.
  50. -  If you donÆt use the source-code, but you like the Hotkeys program, 
  51.    youÆre also encouraged to send me a postcard of your hometown.
