1. System Requirements
Montezuma's Return requires a Pentium PC with 16M RAM minimum.
The recommended system is a Pentium 133 with 32M RAM.
The full demo requires 62M of hard drive space. An additional
32M of hard drive space is needed when running with 16M RAM.
DirectX 3.0 or newer is needed for the W95 version.
2. Getting started
It is recommended that you exit all windows before executing
Montezuma's Return. Before running the DOS version for the first time
run the DOS setup program.
3. The complete version of Montezuma's Return will be available in
November 1997. It will have 12 levels, including the demo introductory
level.
4. Ordering information
To order the complete version of Montezuma's Return contact
sales@utopiatech.com. For Germany, Austria and Switzerland, please
visit www.software2000.de.
5. Troubleshooting
a. No music when running in the DOS version.
Run the DOS setup program (msetup.exe). Make sure that your DOS
audio drivers are properly installed and current.
b. The program exits during the scrollbar
This is probably a memory error. If you're using a 16Meg system, see
"Notes for 16 Meg systems".
c. The DOS version exits before the title screen.
This is probably a sound configuration problem. Run the DOS setup
program (msetup.exe). If all else fails, set the MIDI and digital
drivers to "NO audio". The W95 version will probably work.
d. DOS setup fails after configuring audio.
From a DOS prompt, try attrib -h *.*, then try running msetup.exe
again.
6. Known bugs
There is a known bug when running the DOS version on a 16Meg system.
Sometimes the audio will become distorted.
7. Reporting bugs
Please report all bugs to utopia@utopiatech.com.
8. Special notes for 16Meg systems
For 16Meg systems you must use the W95 version or run the DOS version
from the ICON. Be sure to close all other windows before attempting
to run Montezuma's Return. The game requires virtual memory. You can
configure a DOS window by setting the "properties->memory" and setting
DPMI to 32768. Also, see "known bugs".
9. Acknowledgements
Utopia Technologies would like to thank all of the talented people
who were involved in the production of this demo. Special thanks to
