  5. Fine Print Description
  6. ----------------------
  7. Fine Print is a Windows 3.1 and Windows 95 printer driver. Fine Print 
  8. prints any document with multiple pages onto fewer sheets
  9. by printing one, two, four, or eight pages on a single
  10. sheet of paper, while maintaining document integrity and clarity.
  11. Fine Print allows a number of pages on a single page, saving significant
  12. amounts of paper and toner, and extending printer life. Fine Print works
  13. with all Windows printers and prints to any standard size of paper. It can
  14. be used for printing all documents - internal drafts, archives, proposals,
  15. spreadsheets, presentations, web pages, emails, Adobe Acrobat (PDF) files, 
  16. graphics, software source code, etc.

  18. Fine Print maximizes the functionality of existing printing hardware with
  19. features that include:
  20. * Works with any Windows 3.1 or Windows 95 printer:  inkjet, non-postscript
  21. laser, and PostScript laser.
  22. * Supports all standard Windows print options, including fonts, graphics,
  23. page size, etc.
  24. * Can print 1, 2, 4 or 8 pages on a single page, saving paper and printer toner.
  25. * Stationery option prints a header, footer, page number, date and time
  26. stamps. Multiple Stationery formats may be saved.
  27. * A Watermark may be underprinted on a page at a 45-degree angle.
  28. Watermarks include Confidential, Draft, Eyes Only.
  29. * Simple to install and easy to use.
  30. * Any Windows application that has a Print function can use Fine Print.

  32. Installing Fine Print
  33. ---------------------
  34. Install Fine Print as you would any other printer driver.  In Windows 3.1,
  35. use the Printers applet in Control Panel; in Windows 95, open the Printers
  36. folder and double-click "Add Printer."  For detailed
  37. instructions, just double-click the file SETUP.HLP in this directory.

  39. Updating from a previous Fine Print Version 
  40. ---------------------
  41. For those of you who are already registered, simply run the UPDATE.BAT file
  42. and your copy of Fine Print will be automatically updated to Version
  43. 1.27.

  119. Setting Default Paper Size
  120. --------------------------
  121. In many countries the default paper size is A4.  It is possible to set
  122. Fine Print to always use this or other supported sizes by default.
  123. The default paper size in Fine Print can be set by using the
  124. Properties dialog box.  This dialog box is available from most
  125. applications in the same place that the printer driver is selected.
  126. It is also available from Win95 by right clicking on the Fine Print
  127. icon in the printer panel.  From there, select the Details tab and
  128. click the Setup... button.

  130. Note on Watermarks
  131. -------------------
  132. Watermarks do not print on most Laserjet 4 models from Windows 95
  133. applications. Printing from the same applications under Windows 3.1
  134. works correctly.  Exceptions to this rule include the Laserjet 5
  135. series of printers.

  137. The only known workaround to this problem is to install the Windows
  138. 3.1 driver instead of the Windows 95 driver.  This should cause no
  139. ill effects and watermarks will print correctly.

  144. Windows NT Version
  145. ------------------
  146. We are currently working on a version of Fine Print for Windows NT, but
  147. we have not announced a ship date.  Please check our web site
  148. <http://www.singletrack.com> for release information.

  150. Registration
  151. ------------
  152. You have downloaded a trial version of Fine Print. If you decide to use it,
  153. registration to the full version costs $19.95. The registration mechanism
  154. we use allows payment by check, credit card, and electronic payment.  When
  155. payment is received, you will receive a registration key which you then
  156. enter into Fine Print.  Once you have Registered by entering your key, two
  157. things will happen:
  158.  
  159. 1. The "unregistered" message printed on each page will be removed.
  160. 2. The 10 page limit will be removed.
  161.  
  162. Registering entitles you to receive all future upgrades to
  163. Fine Print for a single platform.  A version for a different platform
  164. (e.g. Windows NT) will require a separate registration fee.
  165.  
  166. To register, click the Register... button in the Fine Print window and then
  167. click the Registration Info... button in the dialog box. Enter the
  168. Registration key we have sent you.

  180. We are currently working on a version of Fine Print for Windows NT.  It will
  181. be shipping in the third quarter of this year.
