  103. -------------------

  105. Sound:
  106. - A sound card with at least one DAC that can process sampling at 11 kHz or 
  107.   better and an appropriate asynchronous wave driver, also known as an MPC-2 
  108.   compatible wave device.

  110. - A sound card that is directly supported in hardware (OPL4 based card with
  111.   onboard RAM or Gravis Ultrasound)
  112. - Note: DAC emulators like speaker.drv cannot be supported.  In direct to disk
  113.   recording mode there is no special sound hardware required.

  115. Processor:
  116. - AT 386 SX/16 as the absolute minimum to run the program.
  117. - AT 386 DX/20 for playing at the highest sample rate.
  118. - AT 486 DX/33 with 8 MB RAM to use MOD4WIN as a background jukebox at 44 kHz 
  119.   and 16 bit stereo sampling.
  120. - Note: To play modules with more than 8 channels using IDO and panning, a 
  121.   faster processor may be required.  In direct to disk recording mode and
  122.   direct hardware support mode, any AT 386 or better is sufficient to run the
  123.   program.

  125. Video:
  126. - A VGA video adapter with at least 16 colors simultaneously.
  127. - Suggested video resolution 800 x 600 to show the Main Dialog, Info Dialog, 
  128.   and Effect Panel without overlapping.
  129. - Note: With a Hercules or Monochrome adapter many of the dialogs will 
  130.   appear unreadable.

  132. Operating System:
  133. - Microsoft Windows 3.1 or higher running in 386 enhanced mode.
  134. - Note: This version of MOD4WIN will not run on 286-based machines anymore, 
  135.   neither will it run under Windows in standard mode.  There is no special
  136.   support for Windows 95 at this point.

  179. * Differences between Shareware- and Full Version *
  180.  
  181. Principally shareware- and full version are equally powerful.  We figured that 
  182. a limited shareware version makes no sense, because you can't test and evaluate
  183. a feature that hasn't been implemented in your free demo.  However, experience 
  184. shows that it is necessary to limit the free demo version in some way and 
  185. instead of removing features, we let you enjoy a free 30 day trial period in 
  186. which you can evaluate the program free of restrictions.  Exempt from that is 
  187. the ability to save your own playlists which is only allowed if you license a 
  188. full version.

  190. If you find the program useful to you and would like to use it beyond your 30 
  191. day free trial period you will have to obtain a full version through 
  192. Registration.  The free demo version will remind you that you haven't 
  193. registered yet every time you start and shut down MOD4WIN.  Of course you will 
  194. be spared all of this, if you purchase a copy of the full version of the 
  195. program.  Your registered copy of MOD4WIN will also show your name in the 
  196. caption of the Main Dialog and in the credit scroll of the About Dialog.

  200. Since MOD4WIN is so easy and intuitive to use, we don't find it necessary to 
  201. issue printed documentation for it.  The hyperlinked Windows help system is 
  202. never more than one keystroke away (just hit F1 from any dialog).  If you 
  203. would like to have something on paper, feel free to spool this help text to 
  204. your printer or to a file.

  206. * Retail Sales of the Full Version *

  208. MOD4WIN is not available as a retail product at this point.  To obtain a 
  209. registered full version please follow the instructions under Registration.

  214. on how big a step there is between your and the current version, prices range
