2/19/98 Update
-----------------------------------------------
Topic: GENERAL
Date:1.30.97
version: all
* Please uninstall the self playing demo if it was previously installed
before installing the playable demo or change the installation
directory demo to something different. Having the playable demo
overwrite the self playing version may cause problems.
* You may experience difficulties running Forsaken if you don't have the
latest drivers from the manufacturer of your 3D accelerator card.
* Please make sure you have directx5 and the new directplay patch called
dplay50a.exe installed. Note: THE DIRECTPLAY PATCH dplay50a.exe MUST
BE INSTALLED. If you have the retail cd version the directplay patch
is located on the CD in the directx folder. You can also download it
from www.forsaken.com if you have the Internet version.

Topic: COMPATABILITY ISSUES
Date:1.30.97
version: all
Power VR
* Forsaken currently has problems working on the Power VR. You will
notice that TranslucencyÆs are not working properly. This will be
fixed for the final version.
* The PowerVR version of the demo does not show any cursor on some of
the menus. There is no way around this right now. This should
hopefully be fixed for the final release of the game.
Riva 128 chipset
* Using a Riva Based accelerator at 800x600 you will experience some
texture problems on the pickups. To fix this change you screen
resolution to 640x480, this problem should be fixed in the final.
Sidewinder Precision Pro
* If you are using the sidewinder precision pro you will need to install
the SWNDR15.EXE patch to assign the base buttons. This will also allow
you to delete configurations on the joystick button setup screen. The
only configurations you will not be able to delete on the button
configuration screen is Hat setup. This will be fixed for the final
version. This patch is located on the CD version in the directx folder
or you can download the file at http://www.forsaken.com if you have
the Internet version.
* Once you assign an action to the HAT switch on the Microsoft
Sidewinder joystick you cannot unassign an action . This problem will
be fixed in the final version. If all else fails you can erase the
user configuration files (*.cfg) in the game directory and start
again.
-----------------------------------------------
Topic:MULTIPLAYER
Date:1.30.97
version: all
* If you are having trouble connecting when playing using a modem2modem
connection try changing who is the host and who joins. Sometimes
modems have trouble connecting to other brand modems.
* A new addition to the multiplayer setup screen for the host is Bright
Bikes. This allows a bike to be highlighted when a projectile passes
by. For the final version bikes will have a full-time thruster
emitting from the back of the bike to help differentiate between other
items on the playing field.
-----------------------------------------------
Topic: GAMEPLAY ISSUES
Date:2.02.98
version: all
* You will notice your vehicle bumping on walls and going through narrow
doorways. This is a known bug and will be fixed for the final version.
Sorry to all those triple chorders out there who slide on the walls.
This will be fixed.
-----------------------------------------------
Topic: HINTS AND TIPS
Date:2.02.98
version: all
* Double Chording - To get extra speed while flying try pressing slide
"left or right" and Forwards at the same time. It will give a bit of a
boost.
* Triple Chording - Forsaken also supports triple Chording which is
slide "left or right", Slide "up or down" and Forwards at the same
time.
* You can also do double and triple chording with Nitro in the final
version.
* Learn how to use the roll and slide options in conjunction. It will
help you evade projectiles like heat seeking missiles and enemy fire.

2/4/98 Update
Riva 128 Update
************************************
Textures 2/4/98
When running Forsaken on the a Riva 128 run the "Forsaken Demo"
shortcut rather than "Forsaken Demo for Riva128", the front end
is forced to use blitted text & will look much better.
KALI95 Bug
********************************
2/4/98
KALI 1.0 does not work with Forsaken, you must use KALI95 3.1.
2/6/98 Update
SpaceOrb Support 2/6/98
**************************************
This is straight from the guys @ Spacetech The easiest thing that
users can do to get the Orb to work with Forsaken is to download
and install v4.8 of our software, then reboot (as the install
suggests). Then simply run Forsaken. The SpaceOrb patch on
Forsaken's web page won't be needed. Everything _should_ work
seamlessly. This software is miles ahead of v4.75. According to
Spacetech.
If there is any update to this please email forsaken@aklm.com
Forsaken also works with the previous 4.75 drivers.
Unfortunitly Spaceorb button settings are always replaced by the
default settings on loading the game due to a bug. This will be
fixed for the final version.
Graphics problem 2/6/98
***************************************
If you notice black boxes around projectiles \ explosions while
shooting try doing the following: >Try making sure the texture
format remains set as it's highest value 5650.....Occasionally
Direct X keeps messing around with configs and changes the
texture format to 4444....
Kali Play 2/6/98
*************************************
When playing over Kali the packets per second setting works much
better when the host sets the packets per second to 5. This
information was acquired from the players on Kali. Thanks for the
tip.
Forsaken Final version features 2/6/98

saving, currently just save points are being used.

"T" and typing your message. It is not supported in the demo. You

Ensoniq Sound Board bug 2/6/98
*****************************************
Forsaken currently does not work with the AudioPCI card from
Ensoniq. This is currently being looked into. You can add -NoSFX
to the shortcut being used to run the game rather than disabling
the sound board. Unfortunitly this will not be fixed for the
demo. Symptoms of the Ensoniq crash: Any time you start a game in
Forsaken it will immediately reeze the game, if you hit the
spacebar enough times it quits out (with no explanation) but
otherwise it is stopped cold. You may see a bit of motion before
the game locks up, just enough to get you excited.
Ensoniq should work with the European internet version, although
It has not been tested yet.
Forsaken Final version features 2/6/98
***************************************
Forsaken will support a weapons editor mode where the player can
decide what weapons they want or don't want in a multiplayer
game. This is not supported for the demo.
Spacetech spaceorb Chording 2/6/98
*************************************
Unfortunitly a known bug allowing players to chord different
buttons together on the Spaceorb was not corrected in time for
the demo. This will be fixed for the final version.
Forsaken FAQ 2/6/98
********************************************
Joystick Hat setup
The four main directions of the hat switch can be assigned in the
same way as normal buttons: just move the cursor over the action
you want to assign, press <Return> and then move the hat in the
required direction.
BTW, if you want to see what individual joystick buttons are
assigned to, just press the button while in the setup screen and
the cursor will jump to whatever action that button is assigned
to. NOTE: make sure you install the sidewinder patch on the
download page if your setting up the sidewinder or

We have now added an option which enables the host to decide the

The first way is how the original Forsaken shareware was and the
latter way is what Descent players are used to.

Logitech Peripheral problems 2/19/98
*************************************************
Make sure the game port is not a "digital" or "accelerated" game
port
The Logitech WingMan Extreme Digital is not currently operational
with "Digital/Accelerated" game ports.
NOTE: Digital/accelerated game ports are designed to take an
analog joystick signal and convert it to a digital packet signal.
This is designed to make joysticks more responsive and reduce
drifting.
Logitech Digital devices are not operational in the digital mode
of these types of ports for the following reasons:
* Logitech Digital devices already send joystick information
(axes, motion and button clicks) via a digital signal.
* These types of ports use different global drivers than the
standard gameport.
* These types of ports typically do not use the standard
gameport address of 201h
Forsaken Bike spinning bug 2/19/98
******************************************************
Occasionally starting up a game of forsaken will cause the bike
to constantly spin around. You can get around this problem by
disconnecting the joystick, deleting the config file and then
re-running the game.

Thought you guys might be interested in this. We've updated
Kali95 to add the forsaken demo to the Launch menu. Also, it's
not mentioned in the whatsnew.txt but we increased that 1.5sec
Directplay Timeout value to 3 seconds, so that should help a few
more people get into Forsaken games. Here's the details on the
update:
There's an updated GameDLL for Kali95 V1.31 available at:
ftp://ftp.kali.net/pub/kali/p131_rf.exe
or
