  47. I. THE STORY
  48.       It's the year 2005. The world's stood face to face with total
  49.   extermination because of appearing young people representing certain
  50.   youth subcultures. It broke out at the turn of the centuries in
  51.   Poland, when hords of street gangsters, boarders and hippies loomed
  52.   up in the streets of some towns. These events didn't portend any
  53.   great disaster, let alone the apocalypse. When the local authorities
  54.   realized how serious the problem was, the situation was out of
  55.   control. Unfortunately, it was too late. Always ready for action Duke
  56.   Nukem said: "Mmmm. I'm goin' in" and wasn't seen any more. Even
  57.   Marine, who had been highly praised for destroying the Crater
  58.   Majoris, vanished without trace. Then, people had no hope of
  59.   regaining control of these dangerous areas. The plague raged...
  60.       During the UN summit meeting in Brussels, a new international
  61.   organization has been established - The Defense and Quick Response
  62.   Worldwide Department, which is being led by you. Equipped with the
  63.   newest hardware consistent with the NATO standards, you have to fight
  64.   against innumerable opponents. Everybody has great faith in you. You
  65.   are almost certainly the only survivor. The world is in your hands,
  66.   so you mustn't fail. Go ahead!

  86. III. INSTALLING CARNAGE II
  87. A. Installation
  88.   You must install Carnage II before you can play it. If you have
  89.   downloaded Carnage II via modem, simply go to the directory you've
  90.   placed Carnage II in, and type 'INSTALL'.

  92. B. README.TXT
  93.   After you install Carnage II, you go right into the README.TXT file,
  94.   which is henceforth available in your Carnage II directory. This is
  95.   a full listing of Carnage II's technical parameters. We strongly
  96.   recommend that after you install Carnage II, you glance through
  97.   README.TXT.

  99. IV. THE BASICS OF PLAY
  100. A. Goal of the Game
  101.   Carnage II has one basic goal. The player's task is to exterminate
  102.   human beings.
  103.  
  104. B. Skill
  105.   You can choose from five different difficulty levels:
  106.   Kidstuff           - The warm-up mode.
  107.   Duck Shoot         - The easy mode. Much time and lots of stuff.
  108.   Test Your Confetti - The Default Setting. Normal difficulty.
  109.   Play Havoc         - For Experienced Players.
  110.   Pissing Contest    - For Experts Only. Little time and few bullets.
  111.   Once you've made your selection, the game will load.

  113. C. Episode
  114.  
  115.   Episode I: Paris
  116.     The capital of France declines as one of the first towns. Gangs of
  117.   youths hanging about on street corners have had a liking for Champs
  118.   Elysees.
  119.  
  120.   Episode II: New York
  121.     The plague has quickly spread across the Atlantic, reaching the
  122.   New York City. It particulary makes the local Brooklyn gangstas' life
  123.   miserable.
  124.  
  125.   Episode III: Bielsko-Biala
  126.     This is a place where everything has started. With the bittersweet
  127.   stench of vengeance coursing through your veins, you step in the
  128.   home killing field.
  129.  
  130. D. Know your Enemies
  131.   Carnage II critters are extremely tough, but you have the firepower
  132.   to vent your grievances on them anyway. Good hunting. 
  133.  
  134.   Street Gangsta - he's moving slowest. He's got stripes on his
  135.     trousers and a baseball bat.
  136.   Hippie - he's got long hair, a headband and bell-bottoms. You've got
  137.     to remind him that Woodstock was over in 1969.
  138.   Boarder - he's riding on a skateboard and is the quickest.

  140. V. CONTROLS
  141. A. Mouse
  142.   You shoot at your enemies by clicking the left mouse button. It is
  143.   possible to shoot a spurt of machine-gun fire but you get rid of your
  144.   ammo much quicker. After finishing off all kids, getting rid of the
  145.   time or if you have no ammo, the game is over.
  146.  
  147. B. The Main Menu
  148.   Tap the Escape key to pop up the Main Menu. While you are in the
  149.   menu, the game is paused. Use the arrow keys to move the kalashnikov
  150.   up and down the menu. Place machine-gun before the desired option,
  151.   and tap the Enter key.
  152.  
  153.   NEW GAME
  154.     Discards the game you're playing, and starts a new one.
  155.   LOAD
  156.     Brings up a list of saved games. Choose the desired slot and tap
  157.   the Enter key. 
  158.   SAVE
  159.     Brings up a list of saved games. Choose the desired slot and tap
  160.   the Enter key.                          
  161.   BACK TO GAME
  162.     By entering this option, you will continue playing the previous
  163.   game.
  164.   QUIT
  165.     Exits Carnage II at once.

  167. VI. THE GAME
  168. A. The Screen
  169.   The large top part of the screen is the view area, in which you see
  170.   your enemies. Immediately below is the Status Bar containing the
  171.   following information:
  172.   AMMO    - shows the amount of ammo left. 
  173.   KILLS   - shows the number of the killed.
  174.   SCORE   - shows the number of scored points.
  175.   TIME    - shows the remaining time.
  176.  
  177. B. Ending a Level
  178.   After killing all hordes of enemies, you finish a level. The number
  179.   of foes to be killed is shown at the very beginning of each level.

  181. C. Ending an Episode
  182.   Each episode consists of three levels. After finishing all episodes,
  183.   the game is over - you are a winner. After finishing the third 
  184.   episode, playing the "Pissing Contest" skill level, you will see 
  185.   the movie!

  187. VII. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
  188.  
  189.  Q: How can I shoot at hippies? They aren't violent at all!
  190.  A: I don't know, but they may be...
  191.  
  192.  Q: Why do I score diffrent number of points at different skill
  193.     levels?
  194.  A: It's obvious. It's much easier to aim and shoot, if you choose
  195.     "Kidstuff".
  196.  
  197.  Q: Why can we see the final movie only after playing the most
  198.     difficult skill level?
  199.  A: Because of motivation... If you're better, you've got always 
  200.     some more.
  201.  
  202.  Q: Last year I visited New York and it wasn't such a dangerous town.
  203.  A: You didn't visit Brooklyn.
  204.  
  205.  Q: I'm an obsessed skateboarder. I can't understand why I should shoot
  206.     at my fellow boarders?
  207.  A: Shoot at street gangsters and hippies.
