  9. ---- WELCOME---------------------------------------------------

  11.     These release notes contain late-breaking information about
  12. the Titanic demo, a quick overview of how to play, a list of
  13. known problems with this pre-release, and information on 
  14. contacting technical support.
  15.  
  16.     For information on installing and troubleshooting problems
  17. with the Titanic Demo, please see the install guide that came 
  18. with your CD.  If you didn't receive an install guide, it is 
  19. stored as a Microsoft Write document on the Titanic CD.  The 
  20. filename is "\INSTALL.WRI".  You may also contact technical 
  21. support; we will be happy to mail one to you.

  24. ---- KEYBOARD COMMANDS -----------------------------------------
  25.  
  26. While playing the Windows version of the demo, you can use 
  27. the following keys:
  28.  
  29.     Esc                    Skip the current animation, or pause
  30.                            the game
  31.     Arrow keys             Move forward, turn left or right
  32.     A, W, S, D             Same as the arrow keys
  33.     Ctrl+0 thru Ctrl+9     Set sound volume, Ctrl+0 is off,
  34.                            Ctrl+9 is loudest
  35.     Ctrl+Q                 Quit the game and return to the main
  36.                            menu
  37.     Ctrl+F1 / Ctrl+F2      Increase/decrease the brightness of
  38.                            the screen
  39.     Ctrl+F3 / Ctrl+F4      Increase/decrease the redness of the
  40.                            screen
  41.     Ctrl+F5 / Ctrl+F6      Increase/decrease the greenness of
  42.                            the screen
  43.     Ctrl+F7 / Ctrl+F8      Increase/decrease the blueness of the
  44.                            screen
  45.     Ctrl+F9                Restore the screen to its default
  46.                            settings

  49. ---- QUICK OVERVIEW -------------------------------------------
  50.  
  51.      After starting the demo you will see an opening movie 
  52. followed by a screen that gives you three options.  Clicking on 
  53. the first button will send you to the "Trailer" section of the 
  54. demo.  This is a brief overview of the entire game.  Clicking on 
  55. the second button will send you to the "Interactive" section of 
  56. the demo.  Here your boss will give you a mission and you must 
  57. explore the ship to solve it.  You can save your game at any 
  58. time during the "Interactive" section. Clicking on the third 
  59. button will send you to the "Slideshow" section of the demo.  
  60. This is a collection of screen shots from the actual game 
  61. "Titanic: Adventure Out of Time".

  64. ---- KNOWN PROBLEMS -------------------------------------------
  65.  
  66.      This pre-release demo of Titanic uses an alpha version of
  67. Cyberflix's DreamFactory engine.  While DreamFactory has been
  68. tested on many configurations, there are several known problems
  69. with this version, and probably a few unknown ones as well.
  70. Cyberflix makes no warrenty as to the fitness of the alpha or
  71. its ability to run on your computer.  That said, here's the
  72. list of known problems in this version:
  73.  
  74.      - Titanic currently requires about 8000K free memory in
  75.        Windows, which means it probably won't run on a machine
  76.        with 8MB of RAM.  Memory requirements are being 
  77.        tightened up, and the release version will definitly run 
  78.        on an 8MB machine
  79.  
  80.      - The loader program (the one with the four buttons) has
  81.        problems on some Windows 3.1 machines.  If the loader
  82.        causes a General Protection Fault, you can bypass it.
  83.        Run \INSTALL\16BIT\_SETUP.EXE on the CD to install, or
  84.        run the program TI.EXE in the folder on your hard drive
  85.        to play.

  87.      - The uninstaller program will not remove any saved games
  88.        in the Titanic directory, and will complain that there
  89.        were files "not created by Titanic" in the folder.  If
  90.        this happens, just delete the folder by hand.
  91.  
  92.      - If you have a joystick, be sure it's calibrated before
  93.        you run Titanic, or you might end up spinning in circles.
  94.        You can disable joystick support from the options menu
  95.        in the loader.
