  3. Single player--start out by converting all your research points to
  4. colonization, robotic mines.  Colonize planets with green smiley faces
  5. first.  Concentrate on building construction facilities on new planets
  6. and buy construction points at first to get the construction sector
  7. going.  Once you've got 2-3 upgrades in the construction sector,
  8. switch over to building research facilities.  After awhile,
  9. redistribute your research points so that you're researching all types
  10. of technology.  Be sure to research cerametal and fighter bases early.
  11. Don't build orbital facilities (aside from shipyards) until you need
  12. them.  If you see an enemy headed for one of your planets, pause the
  13. game (backslash) and then build an orbiting fighter base and missile
  14. base.
  15. Try to take over all planets at intersection solar systems--ones that
  16. connect with three or more other solar systems.  This will block your
  17. opponents until they research longer range drives.
  18. Add fighters to your carriers and battleships--they can frequently win
  19. battles all by themselves.  Don't forget to pack some nuclear bombs or
  20. other weapons capable of attacking planets--you can't just blast them
  21. from space.
  22. When attacking fighter and missile bases, get right up next to them
  23. unless you've got fighters of your own.
