  24. BootProtect is a simple but effective tool for Windows« 95/98/NT to 
  25. prevent bootvirus infections. Bootviruses can infect your computer 
  26. when you reboot your computer with a disk in your A-drive or any other 
  27. bootable device. Every time the user shuts down his computer, BootProtect 
  28. will detect drives that still contain a disk. Then it warns the user and 
  29. tells him to remove the disk. Of course, the user can select the drives 
  30. to be checked. The user can even provide the BootProtect with an infinite 
  31. number of label names for disks. BootProtect won't warn if the label of a 
  32. detected disk is the same as one of the provided labels. Additionally, 
  33. BootProtect can play a sound when a drive containing a disk is detected. 
  34. Also, an option is provided to enable the logging of every notification 
  35. to a file. Another very useful function is the ability to shut down or 
  36. restart Windows directly from BootProtect's icon in the traybar.

  41. - 486DX2/66 required, Intel« Pentium« or higher recommended

  43. - VGA or Super-VGA monitor
  44. - 524 KB of free disk space
  45. - A mouse or equivalent pointing device
  46. - A sound card for the sound notification feature

  51. If you received this version of BootProtect on a floppy disk please
  52. follow the instructions on the disk label to install BootProtect.

  54. If you received this version of BootProtect in a ZIP file (for example,
  55. BPT40.ZIP), you can install it as follows:
  56.  
  57. First extract the files to a temporary directory. You can delete this
  58. directory when setup has completed.
  59.  
  60. - Select Run from the Taskbar Start menu, type the full name of the 
  61.   temporary directory followed by a backslash and the name of the 
  62.   installation program (e.g., C:\BPT40.TMP\SETUP.EXE), press the 
  63.   ENTER key, and follow the instructions displayed.

  66. 4. Known Problems

  68. On some computers, the checkboxes in the Settings Window won't show up. This 
  69. is because you have old versions of the comctl32.dll and comctl32.ocx files. 
  70. To make the checkboxes appear, please download the latest versions of these 
  71. files at http://www.erimarsoft.com/bpt/download/comctl32.zip.

  77. BootProtect is Shareware, which means that you may evaluate it for a
  78. period of thirty (30) days from the date of its original installation and
  79. use. After the evaluation period has elapsed you must register it.
  80. The registration fee for BootProtect is US$ 15.

  94. DISTRIBUTION OF UNREGISTERED EVALUATION VERSIONS OF BOOTPROTECT.
  95. Provided that you verify that you are distributing the Shareware Version
  96. (select About from the BootProtect menu to check) you are hereby
  97. licensed to (a) make as many copies of the Shareware version of this software
  98. and documentation as you wish; (b) give exact copies of the original
  99. Shareware version to anyone; and (c) distribute the Shareware version of the
  100. software and documentation in its unmodified form via electronic means.
