- 1. Introduction
- ----------------
- BootProtect is a simple but effective tool for Windows« 95/98/NT to
- prevent bootvirus infections. Bootviruses can infect your computer
- when you reboot your computer with a disk in your A-drive or any other
- bootable device. Every time the user shuts down his computer, BootProtect
- will detect drives that still contain a disk. Then it warns the user and
- tells him to remove the disk. Of course, the user can select the drives
- to be checked. The user can even provide the BootProtect with an infinite
- number of label names for disks. BootProtect won't warn if the label of a
- detected disk is the same as one of the provided labels. Additionally,
- BootProtect can play a sound when a drive containing a disk is detected.
- Also, an option is provided to enable the logging of every notification
- to a file. Another very useful function is the ability to shut down or
- restart Windows directly from BootProtect's icon in the traybar.

- directory when setup has completed.
-
- - Select Run from the Taskbar Start menu, type the full name of the
- temporary directory followed by a backslash and the name of the
- installation program (e.g., C:\BPT40.TMP\SETUP.EXE), press the

- 4. Known Problems
- ------------------
- On some computers, the checkboxes in the Settings Window won't show up. This
- is because you have old versions of the comctl32.dll and comctl32.ocx files.
- To make the checkboxes appear, please download the latest versions of these
- files at http://www.erimarsoft.com/bpt/download/comctl32.zip.
