  69. included in the help file, but it is in archived form, and is more easily
  70. read after installation.

  74. program for you...

  76. The Virus Checking Assistant is a shareware program.  This evaluation
  77. version includes all features of the program, and is not crippled in any
  78. way.  You may use it for up to 30 days, without charge (see Virus
  79. Checking Assistant.HLP for more details).  If you like the program, and
  80. wish to continue its use after this evaluation period, you are required
  81. to pay for the program (see the Shareware Reminder Screen and help file
  82. for more details).  Any fee you may have paid to others (disk vendors,

  113. ===== Installation =====================================

  115. The installation procedure for the Virus Checking Assistant is quite
  116. simple.  The package includes a program, "SETUP.EXE", which automates the
  117. entire process.  You will need about 700k of available disk space on the
  118. hard drive on which you plan to install the Virus Checking Assistant.
  119.  
  120. The exact steps you need to take will depend on how you received
  121. the Virus Checking Assistant.
  122.

  124. INSTALLING FROM DISKETTES
  125.  
  126. To install from diskette(s), you need to perform the following steps.
  127.  
  128.    o  Place the distribution diskette in the appropriate diskette
  129.       drive.
  130.  
  131.    o  Execute the "SETUP.EXE" program on the distribution diskette.
  132.       For example, if the distribution diskette is on drive A:, type
  133.       in the Windows Start\Run command, "a:setup".
  134.  
  135.    o  Follow the instructions presented by the installation program.
  136.       You will have a chance to approve installation before any changes
  137.       are actually made to the contents of your hard drive.

  140. INSTALLING FROM A HARD DRIVE
  141.  
  142. If you downloaded the Virus Checking Assistant from a BBS (or received it
  143. in the form of archive files from some other source), you will need to
  144. perform the following steps.
  145.  
  146.    o  Extract the contents of the archive file(s) in a temporary
  147.       directory on your hard drive.  The procedure for doing this
  148.       varies, depending on the form in which you received the package.
  149.       In all likelihood, the fact that you are reading this text means
  150.       that you already have the necessary tools and knowledge to
  151.       perform this step.  If not, you should be able to obtain
  152.       directions for this from the same source from which you received
  153.       the package.

  155.    o  Execute the "SETUP.EXE" program which you have extracted.  For
  156.       example, if the temporary directory into which you have extracted
  157.       the package is C:\TEMPDIR, you would execute the Start\Run command
  158.       in Windows, "c:\tempdir\setup".

  160.    o  Follow the instructions presented by the installation program.
  161.       You will have a chance to approve installation before any changes
  162.       are actually made to the contents of your hard drive.

  164. When you're satisfied that the installation was successful, you should
  165. delete the temporary directory FROM which you installed the Virus
  166. Checking Assistant (C:\TEMPDIR, in the above discussion), including all
