This document covers information that will help you install and use
RedRock FaxNow! version 3. It also contains details not featured in
the User HandBook.Please read the entire document.

Minimum System Requirements
FaxNow! version 3.1 is designed to provide faxing facilities to users of
Windows NT, 95 and 3.x. However, FaxNow! version 3.1 server will only operate
under Windows NT, or Windows 95. The details below are minimum requirements.
FaxNow! will operate faster and more efficiently with more resources, what's new!
Fax Server Requirements:
Computer 486DX2/66 Mhz or better
Windows NT 4, NT 3.51 or 95
Memory 8Mb (Win95), 16Mb (WinNT)
Disk space 7Mb for FaxNow! installation*
Other VGA Video, Mouse
Options Additional 4Mb of memory required when two or
more modems are installed.
* Additional space is required for faxes and working files.
The FaxNow! 3.1 rendering module requires addtional applications
to be isntalled. These applications may impose their own memory
and disk space requirements.
Client PC Requirements:
Computer 486/25 Mhz or better
Windows NT 4, 3.51, 95 or 3.x
Memory 4Mb (Win3), 8Mb (Win95), 16Mb (WinNT)
Disk space 120kb
Other VGA Video, Mouse

Installing FaxNow! Server onto a Windows NT computer:
Windows NT 4 Requires Service Pack 3
Windows NT 3.51 Requires Service Pack 5

Installation

FaxNow! version 3.1 installation is a simple and straight forward procedure.
The Quick Start Guide provided with your software explains how to install
the FaxNow! Server and Client software, add users and send your first fax.
If you require any further information or encounter any issues, you should
refer to your User HandBook.
FaxNow! installation is made up of 4 steps. Before FaxNow! clients can
be installed, they must be added to the FaxNow! User Admin program.
Therefore, we advise that the initial steps should be carried out in the
following order:
1. CD Browser The CD Browser will automatically run and
guide you through the remaining steps.
2. Server Installation Run from installation disk 1.
3. Add users Run User Admin from FaxNow! group.
4. Client installation Run setup.exe from faxnow3\programs directory.

Uninstalling

Windows NT 4 or 95
To remove RedRock FaxNow! version 3.1 under Windows NT 4 or Windows 95,
use the Add/Remove Programs icon in the Control Panel.
Windows NT 3.51
To remove RedRock FaxNow! version 3.1 under Windows NT 3.51, use the
uninstall icon in the FaxNow! program group.
Other methods (for example, deleting directories or files) can cause system instabilities or problems with future installation of this product.

information as well as step-by-step procedures. You can use the online
Help file, or use context-sensitive Help in the user interface.

This section of the readme file lists topics that are not included within
the user manual because they were completed after the User HandBook
went to press.

Microsoft Windows NT v4
Several issues have arisen when installing and running FaxNow! version 3
server and client on a Windows NT v4 computer. You should ensure that the
NT 4 Service Pack no. 3 is installed.
When printing from faxes Fax Viewer under Windows NT , the default Spool
Data Format setting is EMF. If you want to print greyscales to produce a
clearer image, change this setting to RAW.
Microsoft Windows NT v3.51
Several issues have arisen when installing and running FaxNow! version 3
server and client on a Windows NT v3.51 computer. You should ensure that
the NT 3.51 Service Pack no. 5 is installed. This is essential if you
are running FaxNow! version 3 SERVER on an NT3.51 computer.
Microsoft Windows 95
When installing a client under windows 95, you must ensure that the
client machine name does not contain any spaces, otherwise the installation
will fail. This is a Microsoft issue that is out of our control.
Microsoft Internet Explorer v4
Under NT 4 and MS IE4 when printing to the RedRock Fax Driver IE4 will
lock up if you attempt to print a page that has not been completely
downloaded. The page will be loaded in the background and IE4 will unfreeze
after this has completed and present the send dialog. Ensure that the page
is completely downloaded before printing to the RedRock Fax Driver.

We hope that you will find FaxNow! intuitive and easy to use, however,
if you have an issue or question regarding your software, here are is a
guide to getting help:
Read the User HandBook.
This may seem a little obvious but you'd be surprised how many users are
not used to reading. The HandBook has been written in plain English so we
hope you'll find it easy to read and informative.
On-Line Help
Virtually everything you can see in the manual is provided in a context
sensitive help file available with your software.
World Wide Web
For the latest product information, press, reviews and support information
visit http://www.faxnow.com. You'll find the latest tips and troubleshooting
information that will help you to solve your issue. Even if you cant find
the answer you're looking for, you can email the RedRock HelpDesk directly
and know that they will have your message within seconds.
E-mail
You can email RedRock HelpDesk directly from the faxnow web site or your
can send a message directly from your own email system to support@redrock.co.uk.
Your message will be sent directly to someone who can help you, but please
allow a little time for us to answer your question. As a guide, we will try to
reply to issues within an hour of receipt (between 9am - 5pm UK standard time).
Fax
You can fax the RedRock HelpDesk directly by Fax. Faxes are forwarded
directly to the HelpDesk administrator on receipt via our network email
system. Like email, we will try to reply to all faxes within an hour of
receipt (between 9am - 5pm UK standard time).
Telephone
FaxNow! telephone support is available to FaxNow! registered users only.
Registered users can call the HelpDesk for help with their issue if they
cannot find an answer in one of the methods listed above.
We will endeavour to assist you with your issue, however, during busy periods
you may be asked to hold or leave details of your issue with a HelpDesk
administrator. Calls and other issues raised by any of the methods above will
be dealt with in the order they are received. Premium support customers will
be given priority in all circumstances.
