PaCifiST - A Giftware ST emulator for PC.
-----------------------------------------
This file will give you some tips for running PaCifiST the first time on your
computer. It is not a replacement for the provided documentation! You're
of course encouraged to read it.
Once you've unarchived this distribution (be sure to recreate subdirs, with
pkunzip -d under DOS for instance), you should have the following files:
PCSTxxxx\ ; for instance PCST045 for v0.45
|
|----- DOCS\
| |---- PACIFIST.DOC ; THE doc
| \---- PACIFIST.REV ; revisions of the program
|
|----- STFILES\
| |----- DESKTOP.INF ; Desktop configuration file
| |----- DUMP_ROM.PRG ; ATARI ST program to dump a ROM <= 2.06
| \----- DUMP_ROM.S ; ASM Source for this program
|
|----- DISK.ST ; Blank 720Kb disk image
|----- FILE_ID.DIZ ; Description of this version
|----- PACIFIST.EXE ; The program itself
|----- PACIFIST.INI ; The configuration file [NEEDED]
|----- PATCH.H68 ; Some program data [NEEDED]
\----- README.1ST ; This text
Two files (ST.LOG & JOY.CFG) will be created once you run the emulator.
You can't run PaCifiST directly from a CDROM or any write-protected support.
You *do* need a TOS (The name for an ST ROM) of either 192 or 256Kb. Read the
doc for more info. Don't send me request for this, please.
Before launching PACIFIST.EXE, you must edit the PACIFIST.INI file (You can
use EDIT.EXE under DOS and the NOTEPAD of Windows). You may need to change
the following directives:
mount=c:\pcstxxxx\stfiles
image=c:\pcstxxxx\disk.st
logfile=c:\pcstxxxx\st.log
tos=d:\motorola\tos...
...
Just change the path & filename to tell PaCifiST WHERE to find the given
files.
Once it's done, launch Pacifist.exe, FROM ITS DIRECTORY. If the INI file is
parsed without important problems, just press a key to enter the MONITOR
screen. You need to type some commands:
h bring the Help screen
x eXit the emulator
g Go in Atari ST emulation
To bring back the monitor at any time, just press the key below ESC.
