WARNING:
Do not run this program on a machine
running faster than 8Mhz. The screen
update routine used was written for
speed, and any machine going too fast
would make the screen update faster than
50Hz and therefore render the game
unplayable.
GEMS
by Martin Brownlow
Introduction
GEMS is an unauthorised conversion of
Diamonds, a game for the atari 8-bit,
which was written by Simon Hunt.
The aim of the game is to clear each
screen of all the gems it contains,
while avoiding the bad guys. When you
collect a cluster of gems, the number of
gems is added to the HOLD value at the
top of the screen, and also to your
score. If you go to the top of the
screen holding some gems then the screen
will flash and you will get double
points for those gems.
There are 3 bad guys per screen; BRIAN
the BLOB and THE DEMON are always
present, and the remaining is one of
PHILP the FILLER, THE FIREFLIES, THE
EYES or SIMON the SNAKE. You must
complete each screen 4 times, once with
each bad guy, to progress to the next.
