  13. Two-in-One originates from Germany and initially only a German version of
  14. the program and documentation was available. Thanks to Joe Connor and the
  15. System ST Team an English version is now supported in the UK.
  16.  
  17. Two-in-One is intuitive to use and features context sensitive on-line help 
  18. using an ST-Guide hypertext so this documentation is much smaller than it 
  19. used to be!

  27. Prolog: ST-GUIDE installation
  28. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------

  30. The installation of ST-GUIDE is very simple. Don't be put off by the number 
  31. of files included in the ST-GUIDE distribution. For normal use simply copy 
  32. ST-GUIDE.ACC to the root directory of your boot partition or disk and 
  33. reboot your system, that's it!
  34.  
  35. If you'd like to take advantage of the many advanced features offered by 
  36. ST-GUIDE (for example if you would prefer to keep all your hypertext files 
  37. in a single folder) edit ST-GUIDE.INF to suit your requirements and copy it 
  38. to the root directory of your boot partition or disk.

  41. About Two-in-One
  42. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
  43.  
  44. Two-in-One can be started in several different ways:
  45.  
  46. From a command line (CLI); the GEM Shell is not displayed and Two-in-One is 
  47. in 'Manager' mode. In this mode files are automatically archived and 
  48. unarchived. This method is ideal from desktops offering drag n drop 
  49. features, such as GEMINI.
  50.  
  51. Starting Two-in-One directly; the GEM Shell is displayed featuring a 
  52. intuitive interface. From the Shell you can configure Two-in-One to handle 
  53. all the popular archive formats, set up paths and parameters to call virus 
  54. detectors, programs to create self extracting archives, external file 
  55. viewers and other external programs.
  56.  
  57. Output from the archive programs is handled using GEM Window(s). Under 
  58. MultiTOS and MAG!X, Two-in-One and the archive program are started in 
  59. parallel mode and output from the archive program handled by the respective 
  60. utility, MINIWIN.APP with MultiTOS and VT52.PRG with MAG!X.

  63. The 'Manager' functions
  64. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------

  66. The following keys can be used in 'Manager' mode:
  67.  
  68. [Shift]: Hold this key down to call the GEM Shell which will appear
  69. pre-loaded with the selected archive.
  70.  
  71. [Alternate]: Hold this key down to create a folder with the same name as
  72. the archive into which the archive will be unpacked.

  75. Supported archive formats
  76. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
  77.  
  78. LHARC: Versions >=2.20 of LHarc programmed by Christian Grunenberg are
  79.        supported. From V2.30 password support is included.
  80.  
  81. ZIP:   Versions >=2.0 of STZip programmed by Vincent Pomey are supported.
  82.  
  83. ZOO:   Versions >=2.0 of ZOO adapted for the ST by Gereon Steffens.

  85. ARC:   I've tested Two-in-One with V6.02. Unfortunately some of the
  86.        options detailed in the documentation don't function as described
  87.        and other options don't appear to be implemented...
  88.  
  89. UNARJ: Versions >=2.41 of UNARJ are supported. This is the first version
  90.        to offer sensible parameters for handling archives. Other UNARJ
  91.        programs are no longer supported. The documentation supplied with
  92.        this software is confused and badly structured, just what you'd
  93.        expect from MS-DOS-software.
  94.  
  95. It's quite possible Two-in-One earlier versions of the archive programs 
  96. listed above will cause problems. Please obtain the latest versions and 
  97. try those before reporting problems.

  100. Other stuff you should know
  101. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
  102.  
  103.  -New features will not necessarily be detailed here. Refer to the file 
  104.   TWOINONE.NEW and the ST-Guide hypertext for the latest revisions.
  105.  
  106.  -TWOINONE.CFG contains the options for the individual archive programs.
  107.   You can change these using a text editor but be careful not to change
  108.   lines which begin with '#'. Additionally it's important not to enter
  109.   more than 26 options per archive program!
  110.  
  111.  -To use Two-in-One in 'Manager' mode from the desktop/GEMINI it's
  112.   important to bear in mind the following:
  113.   As a default path you should normally use the path of the archive. As an
  114.   expert option you could, for example, take the path of the top window,
  115.   as a default. In this case the active path must come from Gemini and not
  116.   Two-in-One.
  117.   You can set this from within Gemini using the following option: 'setenv 
  118.   TWOINONE_PRG "D:N"' or 'setenv OPT_TWOINONE_PRG "D:N"'
  119.   Incidentally, on starting Two-in-One the Directory window displays the
  120.   current directory, and ignores whatever directory the Shell would
  121.   otherwise look for.
  122.  
  123.  -If you install Two-in-One using the built-in Atari desktop be sure to
  124.   set the 'Full path' option in the 'Install application' dialog under
  125.   the Parameter setting.
  126.  
  127.  -The menu shortcuts can easily be changed using a Resource file editor
  128.   (eg Interface).
  129.  
  130.  -Ghost dialogs: Hold down either [Shift] key or the right mouse button
  131.   and click on the Flying Dial corner to make it 'invisible'. This is
  132.   useful, for example, to view the main Two-in-One window under a Help
  133.   dialog.
  134.  
  135.  -Problems with QUICK ST/TURBO ST/WARP 9: It's been brought to my attention 
  136.   that some people have problems with text output from the archiver being 
  137.   written outside the window provided.
  138.   This is caused by one of the programs mentioned above and is NOT a bug in 
  139.   Two-in-One! There are solutions to this problem:
  140.   *Use CONS_FIX.PRG and place it in your AUTO folder which must run before 
  141.    QUICK ST/TURBO ST/WARP9
  142.   *Use NVDI which faster and far more compatible.

  145. UK Support and Registration

  148. Two-in-One is Shareware and may be freely distributed for non-commercial
  149. purposes. If you use Two-in-One regularly you are honour bound to pay a
  150. Shareware fee of DM 25 to the author.
  151.  
  152. Two-in-One is NOT a Freeware Program! PD libraries, magazines or any other
  153. organisations may only distribute Two-in-One with my written permission.
  154. Any contravention of my wishes will be strongly challenged.

  175. Registered UK users can obtain the latest English Version from Joe Connor
  176. at any time, free of charge, by sending a Stamped Addressed Envelope
  177. enclosing a formatted floppy disk. The Shareware fee for Two-in-One is
  178. £12.00 which you can register in the UK as follows:

  180. a) Make a cheque for £12.00 payable to J Connor.
  181. b) Be sure to include your name in the form you wish it to appear in the
  182.    Registered user dialog.
  183. c) Send cheque to: 65 Mill Road, Colchester, Essex, CO4 5LJ, England.

  185. After registration you will be Emailed or posted your personal 'Key' which
  186. you'll need to keep safe to update future versions.
