Two-in-One history and changes text
============================================================================
1.40 Release version 5th July 1995
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Bugfixes
--------
-Files couldn't be deleted if the safety alerts were turned off.
-If an external program returned an error/s >0 then under some
circumstances one of several alerts may have been called. This led to
confusion! :-)
New features
------------
-Following the times the main window can now be resized. Two new window
elements allow the window to display between 13 and 26 entries.
-New Console window implemented. This can be opened at any time and freely
positioned. Output is stored until the next time the Console is called.
The Console window can be used to display text files so Two View has
become obselete.
-The Console window font can be changed which affects all ASCII text in
the window.
-The 3D effects have been reworked and are visible in 16 colour
resolutions or higher. Further improvements are still to come.
-Some people found the method used to update the directory paths of the
opposite window too awkward. This is now configurable using the 'Remember
paths of directory windows' option.
If this results in a storm of protest it's easy enough to add another
option, but this merely results in an over complicated setting dialog.
-Using wildcards, all characters can now be entered.
-Two-in-One automatically checks whether Kobold v2 or v3 is available
immediately before starting each copy/move/delete operation instead of
just once on starting the program.
1.22 Release version
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Bugfixes
--------
-The 'GEM' setting in the the Program dialog wasn't correctly saved in
TWOINONE.INF, now fixed.
-Problems with the copy routines when copying a zero length file along
with other Falcon related problems which could lead to a crash and other
problems now removed.
-The 'Help' buttons in dialogs were not correctly de-selected when calling
ST-Guide, now fixed.
-Mouse flicker using Manager mode with [Control] and the 'Action' pop-up
when multi-tasking now fixed.
-A few problems with the directory window scroll routines removed.
New features
------------
-Error messages from supported external programs now display sensible
Error messages instead of cryptic messages. These are handled using a new
file called TWOINONE.ERR.
-Archive comment handling revamped. It's possible to set a comment in an
LZH archive which calls a reference in an ST-Guide format HYP file. An
empty comment can also be included if desired.
-The 'Date', 'Time' and MTOS-MP settings in the Info dialog are now
editable. All setting can be 'touched' (updated) by exiting the dialog
using the 'OK' button. A 'Help' button has also be added to this dialog.
-The path pop-ups can now store up to 8 paths.
-The 'Display' button in the Info dialog is renamed 'Start' if the file is
executable in which case the corresponding program is executed.
-The 'Display' menu option is also renamed to 'Start' if the file is
executable.
-The version number is displayed in the Window title bar.
-If a directory window has exactly one file selected the 'Creater
folder' option in the opposite directory window is automatically passed
this filename.
-Clicking on the down arrow no longer flickers if the end of the directory
window has been reached.
-Archive Info dialog now includes a 'Help' button.
18.12.94
-Included a revised version of the 'flying dialogs'
15.12.94
-Altered the resource concerning MultiTOS and Falcon 3D
appearence in color resolutions. This looked rather
strange before.
11.12.94
-One space character removed from the window title bar.
07.12.94
-Error message on attempting to start a zero length file added.
06.12.94

-'Time' and 'Date' fields for folders no longer editable.
04.12.94
-External error dialogs updated again.
03.12.94

-The 'Date' and 'Time' fields in the Info dialog are now editable and are
touched (updated) by exiting the dialog using the 'OK' button.
-The 'Display' button in the Info dialog is renamed 'Start' if the file is
executable in which case the corresponding program is executed.
-The 'Display' menu option is also renamed to 'Start' if the file is
executable.
02.12.94
-The file info dialog now displays the file and header flags including the
MTOS-MP settings. A 'Help' button has also be added to this dialog.
30.11.94
-Error saving the INF file removed.
-Copy routine overhauled due to problems with zero length files on the
Falcon.
-Creating a directory in one directory window automatically updates the
opposite directory window (if neccessary).
1.21 ProTOS show release
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
There was a serious problem with this version which didn't afflict UK
users as an English release was not released, phew!
1.20 Release version
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Due to the scope of the new features in this version the Shareware fee for
Two-in-One has risen from £9 to £12.
Bugfixes
--------
-Manager problem with the Falcon (Error -39) now fixed.
-UNIX generated LZH archive can now be read.
-Two-in-One was not correctly reading LZH files packed with the 'lz'
algorithmn.
-Problems selecting entries which lie outside the visible area removed.
-Archives containing a (faulty) file structure (eg 'SYS_MON.\DOKU.TXT')
were not correctly read.
-VD_QUICK.TTP calls after packing is once again an option.
-The default archive path for packing/unpacking is no longer automatically
displayed in the shell window on starting.
-GEM setting was incorrectly saved in TWOINONE.INF.
-LHarc archive with header format 2 now handled correctly as LZH archives.
-Problems with UNIX-LZH archives containing '/' and '\' fixed.
-If VD-QUICK is set to run automatically it no longer does when testing the
archive using the 'Test' archive pop-up.
-'Display' is no longer selectable if a folder is selected.
-Moving dialogs which didn't contain editable fields lead to bombs, now
fixed.
-If both windows displayed the same directory, after an 'Action...' only
one was updated, now fixed.
New features
------------
-The number of selected files and folders and overall total size can now
optionally be displayed in the main dialog.
-Wildcard support implemented: Double click on the directory title bar to
display the wildcard selector. To add a new wildcard to the pop-up enter
the desired wildcard, open the pop-up and, holding the [Shift] key down
select a menu position.
-[Undo] overrides the current wildcard and returns to the default '*.*'.
-The directory windows now auto scroll if the mouse is moved above or
below the window area.
-New option in the GEM Shell dialog: 'Automatically starts a matching
viewer'. If this option is active double-clicking on any file in the
directory window calls the viewer the appropriate viewer and opens the
file, the File info dialog is not displayed.
To display the File info dialog hold down the [Shift] key whilst
double-clicking.
-Two-in-One can call ST-Guide even if it's been started after Two-in-One
(eg via Chameleon).
-In the folder info dialog the size of the folder(s) is now displayed.
-In the archive info dialog the overall compression rate of the archive
is displayed.
-In the 'Program' dialog its possible to specify whether the actual path
of the program or its directory is set.
-Double click on an archive whilst holding down the [Shift] key and the
file info dialog is displayed instead of opening the archive.
-An LHarc file eventually reports no files in the archive, if its been
packed using 'relative' (eg '\TEST.') and the 'x1' option is not set.
Two-in-One now automatically activtes this option if this circumstance
is encountered.
-So that the ominous warning displayed if ST-ZIP.PRG (instead of
ZIPJR.TTP) is configured as the ZIP handler no longer appears Two-in-One
now displays its own warning if ST-ZIP.PRG is selected.
-If VD-QUICK.TTP is selected in the 'Program' dialog, default values are
automatically assigned.
-Especially for the benefit of new Two-in-One users the program and
archive dialogs now feature a 'Defaults' button. Selecting these buttons
add example data into the fields.
Please bear in mind you have to verify the files indicated by this
example data actually exist!
-Using the Manager the 'Actions...' pop-up can no longer be activated
using the right mouse button, this caused problems with background
operations and nobody used it anyway!
-[Delete] deletes, just like [F8].
-External programs can now be called using the 'Programs...' pop-up
(previously called 'Action...'). Up to eight programs can be configured
to communicate with Two-in-One via a command line and set to recognise
specific file extenders.
-Two-in-One is now happy wherever or however it's started.
-After changing drives the current directory and not the root directory is
displayed. The use of the current path for drive changes can be defined
using the INF file option '#nap'.
-Using the 'Programs...' pop-up it's now possible to (optionally) start
GEM programs from Two-in-One. So that Two-in-One can recognise such
programs they must have the file extender 'PRG', 'APP' or 'GTP'.
-Up to 5 external file viewers are supported, which can each be assigned
specific extender(s). The configuration of the file viewers is now carried
out via a dialog inside Two-in-One (rather than as options in the
TWO-VIEW.INF file).
-Two-in-One suggests a name if you create a new folder with an open archive
and also suggests an archive name if a folder is open.
-The ST-GUIDE Help system is now fully supported. ST-Guide can be called
either as an ACC or installed as a viewer and called as a PRG and used to
view the on-line help which appears in a GEM Window. The original
Two-in-One help dialogs are no longer supported.
-The active archiver parameters are displayed in the Info line of the TOS
window during ARGV communication.
-Iconify under MTOS is thrown out. Until a release version appears there
are more important things to use the [Undo] key for. If a release version
of MTOS appears I'll review the situation.
-Various keyboard shortcuts changed to follow the evolving gem-list
standard and to make keyboard control more intuitive.
-'OK' and 'Cancel' buttons now follow the Atari standards. This can be
controlled using the '#nsw' entry in the INF file.
-If the confirmation is active for 'Delete' and 'Copy/move' operations it
can be suspended by holding down either [Shift] key whilst selecting the
button.
-The internally used Archive commands can now be read in the file
TWOINONE.CMD. This future proofs Two-in-One should Windows really take
over from GEM! I hasten to add I don't forsee any danger of this for the
next five years.
-The main dialog supports WM_BOTTOMED.
-Either the path fields or corresponding buttons, can be selected to set
paths.
-The filenames for the English and French versions now have their own
unique names, TWOINENG and TWOINFRE respectively.
-After successfully entering your personal key data a confirmation dialog
appear. Unsuccessful attempts are greeted with outrage!!

18.02.94
-In a mad moment I used an old version of the source for the manager! This
re-introduced problems handling lower case filenames.
-Minor changes to the English Resource file and program code.
21.02.94
Calling KOBOLD under MAG!X led to corruption of the Main screen.
1.04 Beta
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
05.01.94

-The window of the GEM Shell on starting the program always displays the
path of the shell and not to the current folder.

now configurable.
13.01.94

-New enhanced flying dialogs.

should be unpacked the packer no longer passes over all selected files.
This neutralizes the 'Faulty ARGV with MAG!X' affair.
11.02.94
-The Workstation of the flying dialogs was not released at the end, which
could lead to problems.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
To be continued...
