Readme for Papyrus 3.51
=======================
Install problems
================
Always make a backup of the master disks.
The installation will need to write to the backup of your
installation disk, the disk must therfore not be write protected.
If the disk is write protected the installation program will not
run.
Dictionaries
============
The Proximity/Williams American English and British English
dictionaries are Copyright ╜ 1985, 1990, Williams Collins Sons & Co
Ltd and Copyright ╜ 1985, 1990, 1994 Proximity Technology Inc.
The file BRIT_ENG.DIC is the UK English dictionary
Papyrus will need to be told the location of the dictionaries from
the spellchecker options dialogue. See the spellchecker section in
the user manual for full details.
Bitmap Fonts
============
If you are not using SpeedoGDOS with Papyrus, the first thing
you will have to do is tell Papyrus the location of the bitmap
fonts folder you want to use (disk 3 of the installation disks
contains fonts). This is done by selecting font paths from the
options menu and clicking on one of the boxes, a file selector
will appear so you can locate the font folder. Once done Papyrus
will pick up the fonts. Note: It may be necessary to add the
fonts to the font panel, see the user manual for full details
on adding fonts.
GEM metafiles & Falcons
=======================
There appears to a problem displaying and printing GEM metafiles on
Falcons due to a bug in the Falcons VDI. If you use a replacment
VDI such as NVDI you should experience no problems. A fix is
currently being worked upon.
Memory problems
===============
Papyrus has been used regularly on a 2MB ST with lots of Speedo
fonts (over 50) and a screen accelerator installed without any
memory problems or crashes. We have found that the usual cause
of random crashes and memory problems is due to desk accessories
or auto programs running off with large quantities of system
memory. The important thing to remember is to not overload your
computer with lots of extra memory hungry programs. A simple
setup will be easier to maintain as well as being more reliable.
If you do experience memory problems or crashes while running
Papyrus, try removing some AUTO programs and desk accessories.
