WHATSNEW.778
DR SOLOMON'S ANTI-VIRUS TOOLKIT
=============================== FindVirus Evaluation (Lite) v7.78
New in Version 7.78
===================
1. We have redesigned our virus-finding engine. In the past FindVirus
required a file called FINDVIRU.DRV. This file is no longer
required by Dr Solomon's FindVirus.
FindVirus now requires three other files: FIND.DRV, NAMES.DRV,
and REPAIR.DRV
2. We make two different versions of FindVirus available
for evaluation: FindVirus and FindVirus "Lite". You are reading
the documentation for the "Lite" FindVirus.
This "Lite" version does not include support for scanning inside
ZIP, LZH, ARC, ARJ, PKLite, LZExe, ICE, DIET, CryptCOM and MS
Compress compressed files or Advanced Heuristic Analysis.
See DISTRIB.TXT for details of where to obtain the alternative
non-"Lite" version.
3. One of the benefits of this new virus-finding engine, is the
enhancement of our Advanced Heuristic Analysis technology to
also detect new macro viruses.
However you need the standard ("non-Lite") version of FindVirus
and a 386 or better CPU to use this new technology. See
DISTRIB.TXT for details on where to get the non-Lite version.
4. This version of Dr Solomon's FindVirus detects 553 new viruses,
trojans and variants bringing the total detected to 15682
5. This version may be evaluated until January 31 1998 - see
README.1ST for more information.
