Latest information for WinZones 95
Version 2.11 * March 1996
Welcome to WinZones, the time zone utility for Windows 95!
This document contains the latest information for this
product. It is organized into these sections:
A) Upgrading over previous versions of WinZones
B) Installing and Running WinZones
C) New Features

A) UPGRADING OVER PREVIOUS VERSIONS OF WINZONES
If you are using version 2.04 of WinZones for Windows 95:
- The new version will install into a different directory.
You will be able to use both versions but not at the
same time.
- You can remove the older version at any time using
"Add/Remove Programs" in the Control Panel, choosing
"WinZones" and clicking on Add/Remove.
If you are using WinZones for Windows 3.1:
- The new version will install into a different directory.
You will be able to use both versions at the same time.
- You can remove the older version at any time by erasing
the files in its directory, removing its directory and
removing its Program Group.
If you have any WinZones clocks running, you should exit them
them before installing this new version.
B) INSTALLING AND RUNNING WINZONES
To install WinZones on Windows 95:
1. If you have a previous version of WinZones on your
computer, please review the section on "Upgrading over
Previous Versions" before installing.
2. Insert the setup diskette into drive A (or B)
3. Click the "Start" button
4. Highlight "Settings"
5. Click on "Control Panel"
6. Double-click on "Add/Remove Programs"
7. Click "Install"
8. Follow the directions that appear on the screen
(Alternatively, you can install WinZones by using the Run
command on the Windows 95 Start menu and specifying the
SETUP.EXE program on the setup diskette)
To Start WinZones:
1. Click on the Start button
2. Highlight "Programs"
3. Click on "WinZones 95 (Ver 2.11)"
C) NEW FEATURES
The following new features have been incorporated into
this version of WinZones since version 2.04:
1. WinZones automatically adjusts each clock for Daylight
Saving time.
2. You can compare the time in different cities using a
graphical 24 hour time bar. It lets you see at a glance
what time it will be in one location at any given time
in another location.
> Click the Set button, then click "City Comparison Bar"
3. You can browse the city list and see the local time
for each location. You can sort the locations by country
or city name.
> Click the Set button, then click "City List"
D) QUICK TIPS
1. You can double-click on the clock face to show or hide
the clock's menu bar.
2. You can click on the Set button ("S") on the lower-left
of the clock to access all clock options.
3. You can click the right mouse button on the clock face
to display a pop-up menu of options.
4. You can quickly determine if a clock is displaying
daytime or night time by looking at the icon on the
lower-right of the clock. It switches to a sun and
tree at 5am and to a moon and stars at 5pm.
5. You know a clock is on Daylight Saving time if an
asterisk appears next to the city name.
E) BASIC INSTRUCTIONS
This section lists some of the basic instructions for using
WinZones. These instructions can also be found in the online
help along with more detailed information about WinZones and
instructions on more advanced concepts.
>>> To Start a New Clock:
1. Click the Set button ("S") on the lower-left of the
clock.
2. Click on "Start a New Clock"
>>> To Change the city or timezone for a clock:
1. Click the Set button.
2. Click on the "Configure This Clock" button.
3. Choose the city you want to display.
>>> To Customize the Appearance of a Clock:
1. Click on the Set button
2. Click on "Configure this Clock"
>>> To Set an Alarm for a Clock:
1. Click on the Set button
2. Click on "Set Alarm"
>>> To Remove a Clock:
1. Click on the Set button of the clock you want to
remove
2. Click on "Remove this Clock"
>>> To Display or Remove the Menu:
1. Double click anywhere on the clock face
>>> To Arrange all Clocks Neatly on the Screen:
1. Click on the Set button
2. Click on "Arrange all Clocks"
>>> To Specify the Computer's Timezone:
For WinZones to work properly, the computer's system
clock must be set correctly and WinZones needs to know
what timezone the computer is set to. To configure or
verify this information:
1. Click on the Set button
2. Click on "System Time"
3. Be sure the correct Date, Time and Time Zone is
specified and make changes if necessary.

The online help contains more detailed information about
WinZones and has instructions on more advanced concepts
such as adding cities to the database. To access help:
1. Click the Set button.
2. Click the "WinZones Help" button.
