The best way to install End of Time is to use the End of Time installation program install.exe. Simply copying the various End of Time files won't be sufficient, because the installation program initializes some data in the EndTime.Ini file that it creates. You can run it by either
1) Double click on install.exe in the file manager;
or,
2) Using the Program Manager menu, click on File, followed by Run. Then type in path\install.exe, where path is the path to the directory containing install.exe and the other End of Time files.
*****DIRECTORIES*****
Once the opening screen appears, you may click on the Continue button at the bottom-right of the screen to bring up the Directories Dialog Box. If the directories are correct, click on Continue again. Otherwise, make the necessary changes. Note that the directory that End
of Time is to reside in need not already exist. The Installation program will create it if necessary.
*****EXIT INSTALLATION*****
Note that you may Exit the Installation program at virtually any time by clicking on the Exit button on the bottom-right of the screen. If you do so, you will need to re-run the Installation program to correctly install End of Time or to remove files that were copied before the exit (see Uninstalling End of Time 2.0 below).
*****REGISTRATION*****
Following the Directories Dialog Box is a dialog box that contains three buttons. Two can be used to view/print an order form and the readme file. The third allows you to enter a registration number that will eliminate the advertisement that pops up when End of Time is
closed. Since this is the ShareWare version of End of Time (i.e., you don't have a registration number, yet), simply click on Continue. The Installation program will then start the Configuration program for you to set up End of Time according to your desires.
*****PROGRAM MANAGER GROUPS*****
To add End of Time to a Windows group, either:
1) using only Program Manager,
Open the group you want to place End of Time into.
Click on Files, then New, then Item.
In the 'Description' box, enter <End of Time>.
In the 'Command Line' box, enter <endtime.exe>.
In the 'Working Directory' box, enter the path to endtime.exe.
or
2) using File Manager and Program Manager,
Open the group you want to place End of Time into.
Locate endtime.exe in File Manager.
With the left mouse button, click and drag endtime.exe to the group you just opened.
I recommend you place End of Time in the StartUp group so that it will load automatically with Windows.
*****Uninstalling End of Time 2.0*****
If you ever have a need to uninstall End of Time, just run the Installation program again. When the opening screen comes up, click on the Uninstall button on the bottom-right of the screen. You will be asked for confirmation before all End of Time files are removed. End of
Time does not make any additions to any of the Windows ini files, so you can avoid worrying about that.
