  1. Version 2.23 - major changes:
  2.  
  3.     A separate scanner/disinfector for Word Macro viruses is included
  4.     in this version. See F-MACRO.DOC for a brief description.
  5.  
  6.     Disinfection of boot sector viruses has been improved, as can be seen
  7.     from the list below of viruses that were detected previously, but can
  8.     only now be disinfected.
  9.  
  10.     VIRSTOP2 (The replacement for VIRSTOP) has been updated to accept
  11.     various command-line switches (/COPY /NOCOPY /BOOT /NOBOOT /OLD /BELL
  12.     /KEY /FREEZE).  We fixed one problem with the 2.22 version of
  13.     VIRSTOP2 - it handled the F-TEST.COM file incorrectly.  However, we 
  14.     are not yet quite ready to replace the old version with this one, so
  15.     for now, both programs are included in the package.
  16.  
  17.     No other major changes are present in this version, but that does not
  18.     mean that we here at Frisk Software are getting lazy - quite the
  19.     contrary in fact, and some major changes are under development.  This
  20.     includes a rewritten scanner "engine", which should speed up the
  21.     program, as well as making it even better at dealing with polymorphic
  22.     viruses.

  24.     Also, a virus-information hypertext program is being prepared,
  25.     which will replace the outdated virus information section in the
  26.     current version of F-PROT.
  27.  
  28. Version 2.23 - minor improvements and changes:
  29.  
  30.    The mail server now supports MIME encoding.  Also, the list of 
  31.    official F-PROT FTP distribution sites has changed.  See UPDATES.DOC
  32.    for details.  
  33.  
  34.    F-PROT now detects the PKZIP 3.00B Trojan.  This Trojan is, however,
  35.    not a "real" threat, but due to some unfounded hysteria, numerous warnings
  36.    about it are in circulation, far outnumbering actual copies of the
  37.    actual Trojan.
