  364. 1.  When a macro virus is detected in conjunction with 
  365.     other viruses, the macro virus remover will not work. 
  366.     If you encounter this, remove the other virus first or 
  367.     work in a separate area.
  368.  
  369. 2.  Files with the "-" (dash) character in the filename 
  370.     that are compressed in zipped files will not be scanned 
  371.     by the on-demand scanner.
  372.  
  373. 3.  VirusScan appears to continue scanning endlessly even
  374.     after pressing the Stop button. If you encounter this 
  375.     situation, simply move the VirusScan window in any 
  376.     direction to reveal the DynaZip UnZip Error window 
  377.     behind it. Then click OK, responding as requested by 
  378.     the dialog box.

  476. Prior to installation, take the following steps:
  477.  
  478. 1.  Uninstall any previous versions of VirusScan for
  479.     Windows NT.
  480. 2.  Make sure you have Administrator rights for the server
  481.     on which you are installing VirusScan.
  482. 3.  Run SETUP.EXE and follow the prompts.  If the NT server
  483.     is a BDC, make sure to check the appropriate box when
  484.     prompted.
  485.

  487. * TESTING YOUR INSTALLATION *
  488.  
  489. The Eicar Standard AntiVirus Test File is a combined effort 
  490. by anti-virus vendors throughout the world to come up with one 
  491. standard by which customers can verify their anti-virus 
  492. installations. To test your installation, copy the following 
  493. line into its own file and name it EICAR.COM.
  494.  
  495. X5O!P%@AP[4\PZX54(P^)7CC)7}$EICAR-STANDARD-ANTIVIRUS-TEST-FILE!$H+H*
  496.  
  497. When done, you will have a 69 or 70 byte file.
  498.  
  499. When VirusScan is applied to this file, Scan will report 
  500. finding the EICAR-STANDARD-AV-TEST-FILE virus.
  501.  
  502. It is important to know that THIS IS NOT A VIRUS. However,
  503. users often have the need to test that their installations 
  504. function correctly. The anti-virus industry, through the 
  505. European Institute for Computer Antivirus Research, has 
  506. adopted this standard to facilitate this need.
  507.  
  508. Please delete the file when installation testing is 
  509. completed so unsuspecting users are not unnecessarily 
  510. alarmed.

  541. Q:  How do I manually uninstall VirusScan for Windows
  542.     NT?
  543.  
  544. A:  To uninstall, take the following steps:
  545.     1. Close product dialog windows.
  546.     2. Delete the installation directory.
  547.     3. Delete the HKLM\Software\McAfee key in the
  548.        registry.
  549.     4. Reboot.
  550.     5. Delete the six McAfee device driver (Mc*.*)
  551.        in %SystemRoot%\system32\drivers.
  552.               
  553. Q:  Why do I get errors in my event viewer after
  554.     installing Service Pack 3 or Service Pack 4?
  555.  
  556. A:  Service Pack 3 and Service Pack 4 involved a
  557.     change to the HAL.DLL file that is used by McAfee's
  558.     device drivers. If you are using VirusScan for
  559.     Windows NT Version 2.5.0, completely uninstall,
  560.     then install Version 2.5.1 or higher.
  561.                      
  562. Q:  Why do I get an error in MCINST32.DLL when I
  563.     attempt to install VirusScan for Windows NT?
  564.  
  565. A:  VirusScan for Windows NT was designed for an i86
  566.     processor only. This error is usually caused by an
  567.     attempt to install to an Alpha AXP-based machine.
  568.   
  569. Q:  Does VirusScan for Windows NT support the Alpha
  570.     AXP Chip?
  571.  
  572. A:  No. VirusScan for Windows NT was designed for an
  573.     i86 processor only.
  574.               
  575. Q:  Is there a conflict with the Novell written client
  576.     for NT?
  577.  
  578. A:  No. However, there are some timing issues that
  579.     arise when VirusScan for Windows NT is installed.
  580.     If it is absolutely necessary for you to use the
  581.     Novell client, then change the account that both
  582.     the McAfee Task Manager and the Alert Manager use
  583.     to log in to "System".
