This file contains the latest information for MIDTray.
The information following is not included or different in the help file.
Note: This file may seem a bit gibberish, espically the problems section, don't worry about it, any gibberish is where I explain using programming jargon.
UPDATES
1)ContPlay
This option was added after ripping song 9 from Settlers II, which is perfect for background playing. It will make MIDTray play the song continously, that means that when you get to the end of the song MIDTray will rewind and play the song again, and again, and again....until you turn ContPlay off or press the Next\Prev buttons. To use ContPlay you need to use either the tray menu or the play menu, it should be near the random option.
In the next released version there will be better indication of the status of ContPlay.
2)Colours
The colours are stuck on the Green scheme until you register.
3)Setup
You will have probably noticed the setup routine was different than other Visual Basic programs, the background and the shortcut windows are new. I designed this to give you the user better control over where setup puts the icons. The standard setup program that comes with VB does not allow this and third party setup programs (InstallShield and Wise) cost to much.
PROBLEMS\BUGS
This is the first release of MIDTray and there might be some bugs, or things you don't like about MIDTray.
There are some problems that I am working on now, these should be fixed for the next version.
1)The menus are sometimes unresponsive if music is playing.
If this really annoys you then pause or stop the music before using the menus.
2)There might be a OLE automation error (440) when exiting MIDTray.
I have no idea why or how this error occurs, its got something to do with the digital display DLL.
3)The delete button doesn't use the Recycle Bin when deleting MID files.
This isn't a bug, I haven't coded it! I will do for the next release.
4)There is a delay when playing long (>9 min) MID files.
This could be inevitable, but I hope to try some other MCI controls in the program to see if they also have the delay.
UNINSTALLING MIDTray
To uninstall MIDTray Manualy follow these steps:
1)Delete the MIDTray directory
2)Delete the MIDTray icons from their folder or the folder you moved them to. I recommend getting StartClean by Firas El-Hasan, this utility will search the start menu and delete any lost icons (the ones that reference a program/file that doesn't exist)
3)Edit the windows registary (REGEDIT) and find "MIDTray"
4)For every occurence, delete it.
REGISTERING MIDTray
Use CompuServe's SWREG service or send a cheque to the address below.
The cost for MIDTray is $30 using SWREG
If you use post you can also ask for a disk but I would like an extra $5 for p&p.
