  11. What is Stickythings?
  12. ---------------------
  13. Stickythings is a program that lets you put "sticky" notes
  14. on your desktop so you can quickly jot down notes, ideas,
  15. phone numbers, whatever. You can give your notes their
  16. own special look, and they will stay there every time
  17. you start up Stickythings.
  18.  
  19. Installation
  20. ------------
  21. Firstly, run the Setup program to install the required
  22. program files into the correct directories.

  25. You must have the Visual Basic 4.0 runtime libraries
  26. (not included here to save on download time) in your
  27. \Windows\System folder to run Stickythings. You can get the
  28. files at http://www.infi.net/~pride/vbrun/runtime.zip
  29. - unzip the files in your System folder and you're away!
  30. GET THIS FILE! You'll need the runtime libraries for 
  31. plenty of other programs too!

  34. Using Stickythings
  35. ------------------
  36. When you first start Stickythings, you will see a tiny
  37. window with three options: New, About and Show Notes.
  38. Click New every time you want to create a new note.
  39. About will display copyright and shareware info.
  40. Show Notes bring all notes to the top of the screen,
  41. helping you get to any "lost" notes.

  43. Once you have created your note, enter your text with
  44. the keyboard. You don't have to save the note, it will
  45. stay there until you close it (even if you quit Stickythings).

  47. To change your note's properties, click on the menu button
  48. in the lower-left corner of the note.
  49. This menu lets you change the note's Font, Size, Style,
  50. Colour, and whether it stays on top of all other windows
  51. or not.
  52. When you choose "Set as default", the current note's 
  53. properties will be inherited by all new notes.

  55. If your Windows display setup is less than HighColour
  56. (16-bit) colour, you should only choose pure (undithered)
  57. colours or the notes may look pretty ugly. I recommend
  58. you find out whether your video card supports HighColour
  59. and if so get a driver for it. I just did this, and it
  60. makes lots of programs look MUCH nicer!

  62. To quit Stickythings, click the close box on the main
  63. Stickythings window. Remember, only close the individual
  64. note windows if you want to kill those notes.
  65.  
  66. If you want StickyThings to come up every time you start
  67. Windows, simply put a shortcut into 
  68. \Windows\Start Menu\Programs\StartUp.

  72. This program is shareware, which means it costs one
  73. tenth as much as normal commercial software, it will
  74. hardly kill you to register it.
