AMSFonts 2.1 Metafont Sources -- READ.ME June 1991
These are the Metafont source files for AMSFonts 2.1. If you are going to use
the PK files provided on the archive for 118, 180, 240, 300 or 400 dpi
resolution, rather than generating your own PK or GF files, then you will
probably not need these source files.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
When running Metafont to generate the Euler fonts, do not use a version of
Metafont which has cmbase.mf preloaded. If, when you run Metafont, you see
"preloaded base = cmplain", compile another Metafont executable file with plain
preloaded rather than cmplain, and use that one for generating the Euler fonts.
This is because the Euler fonts use their own base file, eubase.mf, which
conflicts with cmbase. If you use a Metafont which has cmbase preloaded, you
will get Metafont errors.
---------------------------------------------------
CHANGES TO THE METAFONT SOURCE FILES FOR AMSFONTS BETWEEN RELEASES 2.0 AND 2.1:
amsmodes.mf: pcscreen, macintosh, and notimagewriter modes --
o_correction changed from 1 to 0.
cmex*.mf: Changed the comment at the bottom to make it correct.
Also, on cmex9, changed cap_stem, cap_curve and cap_ess
to make them identical to a previously existing version.
Euler fonts: 6, 8 and 9-point were changed, according to instructions
from Donald Knuth; rightside and leftside values:
were are
6-pt 333 150
8-pt 100 0
9-pt 33 0
Also, changed code at the beginning of eubase.mf to
permit use of xscale_factor, and assigned values to
xscale_factor for all Euler fonts except eu*m10. The effect
of this is to expand the characters horizontally and make
the bold bolder and the smaller point sizes more prominent.
msam fonts: Changes made by Stefan Lindner to metric values of
circled R and circled S in asymbols.mf so that they
are no longer determined by device-dependent values.
msbm fonts: Changes made by Stefan Lindner to avoid Metafont errors
at low resolutions and to generally improve the appearance
of the Blackboard Bold characters.
